Seguridad realizó una inspección del área. No encontraron nada. Pero había una testigo que juraba que allí estaban en posición horizontal.
Yo tragué grueso, pero me armé de valor y le dije a la viejita que, a lo mejor, fue el juego de las luces junto con el clima de lluvia lo que la hizo ver algo que no sucedía. Pero la vieja esa se empeñaba, y los de seguridad decidieron llamar a la policía.
Allí sí se me chocaron las rodillas. Mientras en la maleta del carro estaba ella, la sin nombre, para no comprometer a inocentes. Tremendo dolor de cabeza en el que me había metido. Juraba que nadie nos estaba viendo, pero siempre hay un metido chismoso y esta vez fue la bruja del 13.
La policía les dijo a los de seguridad que no vendrían por algo que no valía la pena, que eso era perder el tiempo, y los de seguridad pensaron lo mismo, tanto que ni siquiera lo anotaron como una novedad.
En ese momento respiré profundo, pero la loca seguía insistiendo en que había visto a un par en posición horizontal. Menos mal que llegó el hijo y se la llevó a regañadientes. Allí sí respiré profundo. Todos se fueron y yo me fui corriendo a sacar a la sin nombre, no vaya a ser que se me asfixiara en la maleta.
Caminando a millón, como cuando tienes el rabo apretado, pulsé el botón del control para abrir la maleta de la camioneta y que la chica saliera. Cuando ya estaba a punto de llegar, me pregunté: ¿por qué no había salido, si para eso le abrí la maleta?
Al llegar, mi corazón se detuvo. Ahora sí que iban a llamar a la policía. De los nervios cerré con fuerza la maleta y me llevé las manos a la cabeza.
Lo demás será en otro momento, porque hasta aquí mis cinco minutos.

Horizontal position
Security conducted a sweep of the area. They found nothing. But there was a witness who swore she had seen them there, lying horizontally.
I swallowed hard, but I gathered some courage and told the old lady that maybe it was just the play of the lights mixed with the rainy weather that made her see something that didn’t really happen. But that old woman insisted, and security decided to call the police.
That’s when my knees actually knocked together. Meanwhile, inside the car’s trunk was her, the nameless one, so no innocent would be compromised. What a freaking headache I had gotten myself into. I swore nobody was watching us, but there’s always a nosy one in the crowd — and this time it was the witch from apartment 13.
The police told security they weren’t coming for something that wasn’t worth it, that it was a waste of time, and security agreed, so much so that they didn’t even write it down as an incident.
In that moment, I took a deep breath, but the crazy lady kept insisting she had seen a couple lying horizontally. Thank God her son finally arrived and practically dragged her away. That’s when I really exhaled. Everyone left, and I ran to get the nameless one out — just in case she suffocated in the trunk.
Walking like a rocket, like when you’ve got your tail clenched tight, I pressed the remote button to pop open the SUV’s trunk so the woman could get out. When I was almost there, I wondered: why hasn’t she come out yet, if that’s why I opened it?
When I got there, my heart stopped. Now, for sure, they were going to call the police. Nervous as hell, I slammed the trunk shut tight and put my hands on my head.
The rest will be for another moment, because my five minutes are up.
