A female lion is called lioness
So why are both male and female still referred to lions ? Why not lion and lioness ? Lol

A male Human is a man, a female human is a woman, but both are human. Idk, I see that way. The same way, in Spanish where tons of words are gendered, we say "nosotros" a masculine "we" even if there is just one man in the team, but we say "nosotras" if it's all woman

I believe its easier as Lions is the species and encompasses both male and female, also using both, lions and lionesses takes up a lot of characters on threads
I am not aware of this. , maybe I need to check around to notice it
