Personal Insights & Essential Health Tips.

The need to stay healthy can't be quantified and it's one of the most important things for us as humans. Going about our day-to-day activities requires us to always be in a good physical and mental state, and there is no shortcut to achieving these things other than staying healthy.

I have always valued the importance of staying healthy and it's a goal for me. Just like I always make my yearly resolution, I make sure I draft out my health goals and work towards achieving them.

As a kid, I barely visited the hospital except when I sustained fatal injuries while playing football. My mom is a herb specialist because of her upbringing and she made sure that we drank many of these bitter herbs that prevented us from falling ill so I barely visited the hospital. She always emphasized why we need to always pay so much attention to our health and one of the things I learned from her is never to handle health-related matters lightly.

There was a time when I didn't take my health seriously and it backfired. I was going through a serious health challenge but didn't bother because my job was demanding and I chose to make money instead of paying attention to my health. Things escalated from just leg pain that turned out to be an issue with my leg muscles to High blood pressure and it dawned on me that if I continued chasing the bag, the money might end up useless when I only treat illness with it.

The experience taught me a lot of things and I took a different approach to health-related matters plus no matter what's happening around me, I always put my health first.

My first approach to staying healthy is understanding my body system, there are ways I start feeling and it's easier to tell exactly what's wrong with me. It's just like using a bike for a long time, it would get to a time when you can tell what's wrong if the bike isn't functioning properly.

I pay attention to my body and do not overlook the slightest sign or any unusual thing happening in my body system. Over the years, I have learned different health tips that I confidently practice and they have helped me up to this very minute. I learned the majority of these tips from people because it would be a lie if I said that I was the first person who did these things.

The prompt requires us to share one health tip but I will share two that are very important to me.

REST

As short and simple as the word "REST" is, the importance of it can't be quantified. I mentioned earlier that I wasn't feeling well at a time and it was due to lack of rest. I returned home late and must be up by 5:30 am, it was terrible because I had to work on Saturdays and the only rest time I had was on Sundays. I went like that for a whole year before crashing and it was really bad.

The situation in the country is quite challenging and many people do 2-3 jobs just to stay in shape financially. We barely get time to rest and in the end, they start struggling with one or two health problems.

Some years ago, I was on a bus stuck in traffic. We were there for over three hours and when the road became free, a vehicle didn't leave the spot it was and caused more traffic. People started screaming at the driver but he didn't respond and when they checked him, the man had died.

He is not old and the first thing that came to my mind was stress. Lack of rest can birth a lot of things and death isn't exempted.

For many years now, I don't have a stable sleeping pattern but when my body demands rest, I don't hesitate to put other things aside. It's better I get the rest for free than paying doctors to help me get the rest and it's possible that the doctors can't help me and I will eventually rest in peace which is too early.

I always made sure that I rest as much as I can and it's not negotiable. When sleeping, my family don't disturb me because they know how much I value my rest.

Another health tip that has worked very well for me is the use of herbs. I was raised with herbs and I still appreciate it a lot. Although I do check up but drugs and injections aren't my thing, and it would interest you to know that injections still scare me.

Preparing Bitterleaf soup for myself

I prefer herbs and they work effectively. I remember when my blood pressure was not regular, I depended on a tablet prescribed by a doctor to regulate it but mom prepared a herb with Moringa leaf included and since I started drinking it, my blood pressure has been stable.

My morning drink made with ginger

I detoxify with herbs and it is almost part of at least one meal daily. It doesn't have to be much, taking as little as ginger, garlic bitterleaf or Basil leaf is something. Nature has blessed us with everything and we just have to admit that Nature cares about us. I have seen people who condemn the consumption of herbs and they make me laugh because they don't know what they are missing out on.

I am not insisting that taking herbs is the best but we can prevent a lot of things from happening when we take herbs. There are several other health tips and I believe there are a lot of things to learn from this prompt episode so stay tuned in the community for more useful health tips.

Growing up with my grandma, she believed in traditional medicine more than orthodox medicine and so for every malaria and typhoid fever, we drink herbs. She made sure to warm it first inorder to kill germs before we drink it and this reduced our trip to the hospital

WHENEVER I injure while running, she squeezes bitterleaf on the injury and the blood will stop. Till today, I don't know the chemistry behind bitterleaf and injury.. haha

Rest is something many people underrate but lack of it always comes with huge consequences.
I hope we stick to these nice health tips for our own good

Lolz, I was raised with herbs and I know a few things to put together when I am not feeling great most especially when I know what exactly is wrong with me.

The need for rest can't be overlooked as well, we need it to be physically and mentally stable.

I pay attention to my body and do not overlook the slightest sign or any unusual thing happening in my body system.

A lot of people have their health life on autopilot. If they have a mild headache or even stomach pain, they take paracetamol and believe all will be well. Not paying attention to unusual signs can be fatal.

I can't remember the last time I took paracetamol because simply rested and took away head and body aches.

It's good to always pay attention and not wait for symptoms before we take care of ourselves.

First of all health, I also put my work before my health for the same reasons as you, this took its toll on me as it accelerated my diabetic condition, I was too responsible with the company but not with myself. I even stayed at the company from one day to the next to save time given the volume of work.

That didn't pay off as I started to slow down at work, the stress was consuming me and I became aggressive at home.

Although I earned money, it was not enough to treat my diabetes diagnosis, I used up my insurance policy and had to ask for help from family members, thank God I was able to come to my senses and slow down the pace of work, I listened to medical advice and now I feel better.

That's the issue, the money we chase for so long becomes insufficient for treatment which explains why we need to always make our health a priority.

I have seen many people who also believe that herbs are better than normal drugs, the only thing is the herbs are bitter.

The two are okay and it depends on what every individual wants. I do take drugs too but not often.

Me paying isn't about taking drugs and before I settle for drugs or injections, it would mean that the herb didn't take care of things for me.

Paying attention to our bodies is very essential in staying healthy, I made a mistake by ignoring mine last month and I found my self in the hospital.

One of the things I am trying to get used to recently is giving my body good rest, I am very poor at it and it's really affecting me

Herbs work well for me too, sometimes I prefer it to tablet, though both works well depending on how body systems.

Yeah, I don't discriminate but I find it easier to use herbs more. People think it's an act of being stingy but if we look deeply, nature has the solution to all illnesses.

It's important to rest always bro and I am glad are feeling better now. Cheers mate.

My mom is a herb specialist

Most mothers are specialists in prescriptions. Our health should always come before the work because if eventually something happens the work will not stop either.
Rest is very important including good food, that's the first medication. I always have this challenge with my husband because I don't like to rest until late at night by them I would have been very tired....you know the rest nah. But am changing now oooo

Am glad you changed the system of caring for you health.

Yes ooo, our mothers are superhuman and they know quite a lot of things because of the shege we put them through while growing up.

I love herbs and in a situation where I don't have access to drugs for some illness, I will just get a few things and make my herb.

The need for rest really can't the quantified and thanks for the thoughtful comment.

My dear those herbs are very bitter ohh! I tried sometimes to take it but I would end up not finishing it because of the bitterness. I believe we should pay more attention to our health so that we can live a healthy life.
