I Am Not Mentally Prepared For These Jobs.

I have done quite a lot of jobs and gathered experience in different fields over the years. The saying that there is no food for lazy man is real and if the people who are working day and night are still struggling, I wonder how people who aren't doing anything are surviving.

There are some jobs I would love to do again while there are others I wouldn't want to get close to in my entire life because of my experience with these jobs. We live in a world where you have to work except a person wants to live a miserable life and despite that, it is wrong to do a job that will put me or anyone in harm's way.

Becoming a pilot was my biggest dream as a kid despite knowing the risk of things going south while in the air, I really loved the job and was never scared even when people scared me with plane crashes. I once had a conversation with a retired pilot and he said flying a plane is only challenging when you are new to it, it becomes fun when you have mastered it. These words were stuck with me until this dream became impossible due to financial reasons.

At the time when I realised this dream had a slim chance of coming to reality, I made up my mind to join the military. Being part of the Air Force can make things happen but it didn't work out as well, getting into the Nigeria Defence Academy was a battle against Royalties and Politicians in the country.

I had a shot at the Army but never took it because I doubt if I can ever be sane after taking a human's life which is inevitable because it's either you get killed or kill to stay alive. After the Air Force attempt didn't go through, I realised being an Air Force would have been really difficult since it might require me to kill during an airstrike. Yes, these people they kill are criminals but mentally, I might not capable and if I fail at my duty, I am definitely putting the lives of many military personnel and civilians at risk.

Whenever I see military personnel, I picture a lot of things in my head and always pray for their well-being because they are putting a lot of things on the line just to ensure we live in a safe world.

Another job I wouldn't go close to is being a surgeon, it is a very lucrative job but there is more to it for me. We all know how a single mistake can end the life of someone during a surgical operation, it wouldn't make sense to put people's lives at risk because of how blood messes me up mentally.

I don't feel this way when I see my blood but seeing others bleed makes me cold, I grow goosebumps at the sight of blood and it doesn't make me qualify for the job.

What if I go blank after cutting someone open? Do I even have the courage to do that?

A lot of things play in my head when I think about being a surgeon and I shouldn't even go close to it. Although making a lot of money is the reason why I would want to take any of these professions but putting people's lives at risk is not worth it.

Aside from my mental health being messed with in my line of duty, the lives of people matter a lot. I shouldn't do it than live with the guilt of making people lose their lives because of how I feel or my incompetence.

Me too, I can't stand to see someone bleeding not to talk of going into a profession that demands that. Being a military person is also risky because these people's lives are at a greater risk too, except if God spares their lives for so long.

This blood thing didn't start as a adult, I fear I might have a panic attack one day and put someone's life in danger. To prevent that from happening, it's best I don't even go near the profession.

It's a good thing you discovered yourself and know where you fit in, truly we are heroes in whatever job we choose to do excellently well, and the ones that would cause mental stress to us, are better left alone.

Everyone is making a valuable contribution to the society as long as we are doing what's legit.

Hehe, our Doctors and Surgeons are doing a great job,
The only thing I fear about the armed forces is war, the other parts I adore them

Yeah, the military is a beautiful profession but war is not a beautiful experience.

Entertaining story you have written.
Especially the bit about fainting as a surgeon was very funny.

And I agree with you that being responsible for someone's life can put a lot of pressure on someone.

It wouldn't be a suitable profession for me either.
Both surgeon and Air force.

I hope your current profession gives you joy and satisfaction even if it doesn't give you a top salary.

I am happy as a blogger and fish farmer, it's not much though but I am satisfied because of their positive impact on me financially and mentally.

Putting people's lives at risk is not worth it, thanks for coming through. Trust your day went pretty well?

Oh, you seem to be someone who is emotional 🤣🤣, I can not even become a surgeon because I am too scared to see some lose their lives in the process.

Pilot? Haa, that one too is big no for me oh.

I am a very emotional person, ordinary movies can move me to tears not to speak of have experienced it, I just can't. I should stay away from those jobs than put people's lives in danger just to earn.

You sound like an emotional person.

Anyways, solider is a very risking job and the fact that they have to kill someone is quite disturbing.

I love to be a surgeon, it is a fun job to do. Haha.

I understand your points very well, being in the military is not something easy, I have been with some retired personnels and I can tell how the blood of those they spill and the memory of those they lost is eating them up mentally.

I don't see any advantage attached to putting our lives on the line just because of passion or the pay of a job. It's better we go for what we can handle so that we don't harm others or ourselves along the line.
