Hard Work; The Key To Attracting Luck.
Just like Thomas Jefferson, I believe in luck because I have experienced it a few times but it doesn't just come without some level of hard work involved. With my little experience in life, I have come to understand that there is a certain level of hard work that attracts luck and only a few times have luck come by chance.
Whenever I see someone praying for luck without putting in any form of effort, I just laugh because we live in a world where even hard work doesn't guarantee success anymore not to speak of getting lucky when you have done anything to attract the luck.
Although I have heard stories of people finding luck without putting in any form of hard work and cases like this happen once in a blue moon. There are another set of people who we think are just lucky but if you look deeply, they have worked hard before luck came into the picture.
Someone was talking about one of the Nigeria billionaires and claimed that the man was lucky because he started everything he has today with generational wealth but I don't see it as luck and to prove myself right, I checked his biography and saw the level of hard work he had put in place before opportunity came knocking at his door. There are lots of people whose hard work is unknown to us but when luck comes their way, we notice it immediately.
I have shared the story of how challenging it was for me to get a job back then, my eyes saw shege on the streets of Lagos but all that are testimonies today. We all should be grateful to God that we don't look like what we have been through.
Immediately I was considered a marketing staff after working for over a year as a contract staff, I was excited. I and the other applicants who got the job were given a free zone to work, it's the company's way of knowing your strength in different markets.
We all set out on that Monday morning and at the end of the day, I sold all the products I went out with. The same thing happened the next day and for two weeks, I was breaking and setting my record. I got the Area sales manager's attention and he wanted to meet me. We had a chat and he said, you should become a supervisor so that you can train more people on how to make sales like you do.
I didn't see that happening anytime soon because according to the company tradition, a marketing staff must have used at least a year before being considered for the role of a supervisor except you are employed particularly for that position. The promotion made me famous and a lot of people said to my face that I was lucky.
Yes, I was lucky but the luck didn't just jump on me. While I was working as a contract staff, one of my jobs was surveying markets and I did the job wholeheartedly. Physical survey is quite challenging especially when dealing with market women but I found my way around them and built a good relationship with them.
Imagine helping them display the company's product every morning, amending product stands with my money, pushing for the change of damaged products, calling to check on them and others. The majority of these things aren't my duties but I knew it was the right thing to do and didn't hesitate to do them. They confided in me more than the staff operating in those markets and when I became a staff, these women were happy. They chose to buy from me and it helped me a lot. I stopped working there in 2021 and it would interest you to know that whenever I meet these women in the market, they still tell me their challenges and I pass the message to people who I know in the system.
A lot of people didn't see my hard work and would believe that I was just lucky but to me, I know that my hard work attracted luck to me. I think hard work is underrated while luck is overrated and without hard work, luck can barely find us.
I hope a lot of people learn to understand waiting for luck without hard work is like waiting for a child to walk immediately after birth and like I mentioned earlier, it happens but not often. Why wait for luck to happen by chance when we can attract it with hard work even though it is not certain?
It wouldn't make sense for the luck to come and not get hardwork as a foundation to attach itself to.
I hope your Wednesday started pretty well, mine did and I pray it ends well. Thanks for reading, cheers.

Thanks for the curation, I really appreciate it.
I agree with you. Hardwork attracts luck. Pretty write up there. One can't just fold his hand waiting for luck without doing anything. We need to work and wait on God.
Thanks for sharing
That's right sis, we can't fold our our hands hoping that luck will come our way just like that, we need to do something that will attract luck which is hard work.
You are welcome dear
I love the real-life scenario you painted. True enough, both hard work and luck need to go hand in hand. But when luck presents an opportunity and you do not have the skill to match up, it will still amount to nothing. But a combo of the two wrought wonders, even though people will still shy away from acknowledging the two - but luck alone.
Thanks for your contribution bro. The two indeed complement each other and it's best to work hard while expecting luck.
Most time, luck doesn't work alone. It is attracted by hard work.
Yes, they work hand in hand..
Hard work attracts luck and not the other way round Wow. Don't wait for luck instead be hard working then you stir the possibility of luck.
Thanks for sharing
You got my point sir, we should always work hard first before hoping that luck would come our way. I always put hard work first before praying for luck because hard work attracts luck and not the other way around.

I think those people depends on luck who are foolish and lazy. Hard working people shine in life most of the time and luck also come to them for their hard work not for they are lucky.

Depending on luck is quite an act of laziness, I don't see why someone would depend on luck when they can work hard to achieve something and if luck comes into the picture, its all well and good.
I agree with you, with hard work you attract good things, although many say it's luck because they don't appreciate or value your work. You show with your actions and with more work that what you get is not fortuitous.
A lot of people think it is luck because they don't see your hard work initially. It's pointless trying to make them see all the physical, financial and mental investments I have made earlier.

Wow, this is beautifully explained. Luck shines most on those who put in the work, and if one banks on luck alone without any effort, he is ready to wait forever.
Truly, nobody would see the effort you put in; all they would see is luck, but who else would luck find than the person most worthy of it?
You're right, George. We live in a world where hard work doesn't guarantee success. I strongly believe in luck. There are people out there who are naturally lucky. Everywhere they go, luck follows them. I also believe in hard work. These two things are important.
