HIVE LEARNERS CREATIVE SUNDAY INITIATIVE

I have been doing some DIY projects for about three weeks now and I felt like preparing a lot of Nigerian favourite soup today. I made a video instead of the regular pictures and would appreciate you go through the video because I really want your honest review about everything in the video.

The name of the soup is Efo Riro (Vegetable soup), every Nigerian can testify to the awesomeness of the soup and if you haven’t tried it before, you should. I made the video to be very explanatory for everyone.

Efo Riro is very nutritious, not expensive and for me, it’s like getting something very good for your body without having to break the bank for it.

I have been having melon soup for some days now and while my siblings wanted it again, I chose to go with just Vegetables and guess what? They pleaded for some after I was done, I intentionally peppered them with the Aroma

What are the recipes I used?

  • Vegetable
  • Fish
  • Palm oil
  • Stock Fish
  • Locust Beans
  • Pepper Soup powder
  • Seasoning Cubes
  • Salt
  • Onions
  • Red pepper.

Procedure

I started with washing and processing some of the recipes.

  • I rinsed the vegetables with warm water.

  • I boiled the stockfish with water and rinse again in cold water

  • I Washed the locust bean and Cowskin with warm water.

  • I blended the pepper with a blender.

  • I fried the fish because I love it that way, it makes crushing the head very easy.

After all these things, I moved on to the proper preparation of the soup.

Most of the food items are usually exposed in the market and must be thoroughly cleaned

  • I heated the pot and poured some palm oil into it.

  • I put the stock fish, Cowskin and onions in the hot oil and allowed it to fry a little under low heat.

  • I moved on to pouring the pepper in the hot oil.

  • I added the locust bean, pepper soup powder, seasoning cubes and salt.

  • I stirred and allowed everything to fry for a few more minutes before adding the vegetable.

  • I stirred again and put the fish inside the soup so that it could absorb the Vegetable sauce for great taste.

  • I covered the pot and allowed everything to cook for some minutes again before serving.

The aroma was awesome and the taste wasn’t bad either. I made Eba with cassava flakes and the combo did wonders in my belly.

Vegetables are rich in vitamins and it’s good to eat them frequently. The price of it has jumped up in recent weeks but we can still have them by growing them.

I enjoyed my meal and eventually shared my soup with those who were against it earlier.

I hope you enjoyed watching the video, feel free to ask any questions regarding the soup. I will be waiting in the comment section, thanks.

All recipe pictures and video belongs to me.

In high inflation, I personally don't like dinner or lunch from outside. It is the best way, we can prepare something at home. I 'm a fish lover and have you at a fish farm? Can you share the name of the fish? Your recipe is awesome, I love the final dish George.

The fish is called Horse Macrel but we call it Kote here. Eating out during this period would only waste too much money, it's best to make your meal.

I am glad you like it... Thanks for the visit.

Are you asking if I perceive the aroma? 🙄😑🤨 Just keep making me salivate.
I learnt something new now...I never knew removing the fish eyes would stop it from doing pappaaappa.... while frying. Lol
Then, adding pepper soup spice? I haven't heard of that. One keeps learning everyday.
Thank God I still have some few of it from the last time I prepared chicken pepper soup.

Thanks for making me salivate without tasting 🙄😃😆
That was nice... you did cooked it well.

This is good, I can tell from just watching the video. You nailed the process, I always soak stock for up to an hour but I found a solution now.

You can try another recipe with that kind of fried fish George.. Instead of adding your ingredients. You add ketchup or tomatoes, vinegar, red bell peppers..it,'s like a sweet and sour fish ☺️

Some men have finally become women, as in I could few the aroma of the food😅. Your explanation is easy to understand but I wouldn't use all these ingredients especially during this hard economy😅😂
