Tiny effort, visible growth: a week in a part of my garden [EN/FR]

Hello gardeners!

Last week, I did some new plantings in the vegetable garden. The weather really lent itself to it.

So I started by removing the tarp from my second bed to aerate the soil with a fork. There were a lot of rocks in this area, as well as some bits of metal.

It's crazy what you can find by digging just a tiny bit.

Then I made two furrows and sowed some dwarf wrinkled pea seeds. On the right, at the time of my photo, I hadn't yet made a third furrow, but I'm going to put some radishes there.

When I called my grandfather, who did vegetable gardening his whole life, he told me it was too late to get a good harvest.

But since I'm still not able to go back in time, I thought that even if this crop gives us enough results to eat 3 times, it will be great!

In just a few days, I saw the first sprouts appear. And in the next image, in the foreground, you see my third row I was talking about earlier. Here, it's the radishes that are coming out of the ground!

Soon, I will be able to sow green beans, mini cucumbers and plant some tomato plants. I really like the way this activity is turning out.

You have a nice garden, and it won't be long before the plants grow big.

Even planting things late is good experience and you can learn much from weather changes, speed of growth and employ this to optimise the next seasons results. I had a friend who threw some capsicums (peppers) in late this season Down Under. To our surprise the weather held on an extra month of warm and he is now harvesting them in May where most had finished harvesting theirs a month ago!

Hopefully they will give a good crop. Who knows, with changing weather patterns! It's very satisfying to have a neat garden bed with seedlings emerging, isn't it? A worthy activity indeed.
