Staying home, fixing things, and watching the garden wake up [EN/FR]
Hello Hive!
Saturday morning, and the schedule is packed. We were supposed to leave this weekend to visit @altheana’s family, but in the end we’re staying home. No regrets, I have a list of things to do that keeps growing before my eyes.
The pending projects:
- Sand then paint the living room wall (decided on a whim last night at 10 p.m.)
- Hang the TV and the soundbar on the wall
- Transplant the calendulas into a bigger pot
- Finish the last strip of drywall upstairs (yes, it’s still there)
- Weed the parking area
- Trim the hedge
- Do the cleaning
- Paint the entire room upstairs
- Read
- Move forward on my RSS feed aggregator
- Publish a few articles for my sites in VDL
And as always, one task hides ten others. I manage by priority and by the desire of the moment.
This morning, I took the time to have breakfast calmly, phone turned over on the table. Instead, I read 1984 by George Orwell. I had trouble getting into it at the beginning, now I have trouble stopping.

Yesterday, while taking a walk in the vegetable garden, a good surprise because the spinach are starting to emerge. It’s discreet, you have to zoom to see them in the darker soil furrows, but they are definitely there.

The rhubarb, on the other hand, is taking more and more space. On the same plot, I sowed peas that are also coming out, but they blend into the background in the photo.

The big winner of the vegetable garden at the moment is the parsley. It clearly sensed spring arriving and it fully intends to take advantage of it.

Have a good weekend Hive, enjoy your day!

Bonjour Hive !

You planted very little) = I would have planted more! 😃
For the peas, there will be more than enough to feed two people. As for the spinach, I’m the only one who eats it, so that works perfectly too.
For the rest of my vegetable garden, we have a 20 m² plot of potatoes (not planted yet), a 7 m² plot of beans that made us self-sufficient in beans last year. Not to mention the plot for tomatoes and especially all our fruit trees.
The onions are currently growing under cover, just like the cucumbers and the calendulas.
The photos in this post only represent about 10% of our vegetable garden.
And above all, all of this takes an enormous amount of time and mental load. Especially since this is only the second year we’ve been doing it, so we’re beginners and don’t yet have the automatisms.
That said, where you’re right is about the parsley. I eat a lot of it and I would need a second plant ^^
