Launch the machine and move [EN/FR]

Hello Hive!

New week. And I already feel that it will be more intense on the work side. The holidays are ending in France. Everyone is coming back from skiing. Last week, it was calm. A few clients. Now, I’m going to have everyone at the same time. And I already know that some requests will come in while I won’t be totally ready.

I could start stressing now. Make the mental list of everything that is going to arrive. Project myself onto every urgency. But no. I’m going to do exactly like last week. Move forward step by step.

I have a global vision of what I have to do, yes. But instead of letting myself get overwhelmed, I focus on the next action. Just the next one.

A site migration, for example. On paper, it’s heavy. It can quickly seem huge. But instead of telling myself “I have to migrate the whole site”, I tell myself “I make a full backup”. It takes less than two minutes. It’s simple. And it starts the machine. One small concrete action. And the rest follows.

For the house, this week, we would like to finish the drywall joint tapes. For the outside corners, we need a reinforced tape. Saturday, we went to the local hardware store. They didn’t have any.

Thinking about it again, the first step could just be to order that reinforced tape online. Amazon or something else. No need to think about applying the tape, letting it dry, sanding, doing the paint. Just place the order. Once again, it allows the machine to start.

We came out of the hardware store empty-handed. But right next to it, there is a discount store. We found expanding foam there. Really not expensive compared to the regular store.

It allowed me to fill the mouse holes. Is it the best method. No idea. But it’s done.

In the afternoon, I reconnected the PS3 that I had when I was younger. My parents are emptying their house and I got it back.

It did something to me to turn it on. On GTA 5, my last save dated from 2018. Almost 10 years without touching it. It’s strange how time goes faster when you grow up. I tried to jailbreak it, mainly to access the developer settings which are quite interesting on this console. But I didn’t have the time to finish.

In the evening, with @altheana, we took the car to Paris where we had an evening with friends. Back yesterday around 4pm, and stop at McDo. In general, I’m not a big fan. But after an evening, when you are a bit tired, it’s perfect. In fact, it’s comforting.

Nouvelle semaine. Et je sens déjà qu’elle sera plus sportive côté boulot. Les vacances se terminent en France. Tout le monde revient du ski. La semaine dernière, c’était calme. Quelques clients. Là, je vais avoir tout le monde en même temps. Et je sais déjà que certaines demandes vont tomber alors que je ne serai pas totalement prêt.

Je pourrais commencer à stresser maintenant. Faire la liste mentale de tout ce qui va arriver. Me projeter sur chaque urgence. Mais non. Je vais faire exactement comme la semaine dernière. Avancer étape par étape.

J’ai une vision globale de ce que je dois faire, oui. Mais au lieu de me laisser submerger, je me concentre sur la prochaine action. Juste la suivante.

Une migration de site, par exemple. Sur le papier, c’est lourd. Ça peut vite paraître énorme. Mais au lieu de me dire “je dois migrer tout le site”, je me dis “je fais une sauvegarde complète”. Ça prend moins de deux minutes. C’est simple. Et ça lance la machine. Une petite action concrète. Et le reste suit.

Pour la maison, cette semaine, on aimerait finir les bandes de placo. Pour les angles sortants, il nous faut une bande armée. Samedi, on est allés au magasin de bricolage du coin. Il n’y en avait pas.

En y repensant, la première étape pourrait juste être de commander cette bande armée en ligne. Amazon ou autre. Pas besoin de penser à appliquer la bande, laisser sécher, poncer, faire la peinture. Juste passer la commande. Encore une fois, ça permet de lancer la machine.

On est ressortis du magasin de bricolage les mains vides. Mais juste à côté, il y a un magasin discount. On y a trouvé de la mousse expansive. Vraiment pas chère comparée au magasin classique.

Ça m’a permis de reboucher les trous de souris. Est-ce que c’est la meilleure méthode. Aucune idée. Mais c’est fait.

L’après-midi, j’ai rebranché la PS3 que j’avais quand j’étais plus jeune. Mes parents vident leur maison et je l’ai récupérée.

Ça m’a fait quelque chose de l’allumer. Sur GTA 5, ma dernière sauvegarde datait de 2018. Presque 10 ans sans y toucher. C’est étrange comme le temps file plus vite quand on grandit. J’ai essayé de la jailbreaker, surtout pour accéder aux paramètres développeur qui sont assez intéressants sur cette console. Mais je n’ai pas eu le temps d’aller au bout.

Le soir, avec @altheana, on a pris la voiture pour Paris où nous avions une soirée avec des amis. Retour hier vers 16h, et arrêt au McDo. En général, je ne suis pas fan. Mais après une soirée, quand tu es un peu fatigué, c’est parfait. En fait, c'est réconfortant.
