A quiet weekend at home [EN/FR]

It is Monday. And I realize that I didn’t write anything here during the whole weekend. At the beginning, I really wanted to stick to one post per day. But life makes that it doesn’t always happen as planned.
With @altheana, it was our very first full weekend at home since the end of November. I had imagined a whole program in my head. Lots of little things to do. And in the end, I didn’t really follow it. It’s not very serious. I think I also have to learn not to always have a program.
Saturday, I mowed the grass. First mowing of the year.
During that time, @altheana was taking care of the hedge. We still haven’t bought a hedge trimmer, so she uses pruning shears. It is much longer. And above all, with the repetitive movement and the pressure in the hands, it quickly makes blisters.
But she made good progress.
I will have to put a little money aside to buy a hedge trimmer. Not that we cannot afford it. But at the moment, I try to save for the purchase of a house, a few trips and also for unexpected things. So I try to delay certain purchases when we can still do without them.
All week, we paid attention to eating well. And we succeeded. But this weekend, we wanted to release a little of the pressure that we sometimes put on ourselves. So we bought ready-made Chinese noodles. Just to reheat.
It’s simple. And above all, it is very comforting for us. It reminds us of a trip where we had crossed Europe by train. Then taken a boat. And ended up spending a week in Sardinia. When arriving there, we had eaten exactly this kind of noodles.
Sunday, while cutting wood, I found this small red insect in a log. It is a xylophagous insect.
And it made me think of another problem. For about 2 weeks, in the bedroom, behind the drywall, we hear every evening a regular noise. Tic. Tic. Tic. Sometimes during a good part of the night.
After a few searches on the internet, it seems that it could be the woodworm beetle. The male hits the wood to attract the female. Then, she lays larvae that gnaw the wood. Maybe it comes from our firewood. We have seen a few insects like this one walking around in the house.
It is clearly not very good news. We will have to act quite quickly. The problem is that we don’t really know who to turn to in order to treat this.
If we wait too long, the risk would be to have to redo the entire roof frame. And apparently, the treatment is already very expensive by itself.
So the hedge trimmer will surely wait a little longer. Each problem in its own time.
Meanwhile, @altheana made beautiful peanut butter cookies. And they are not only beautiful. They are also excellent.
To finish my Sunday, I turned the PS3 back on and played a game of Splinter Cell. A game that I like a lot. It had been several years since I had played it again.

Nous sommes lundi. Et je me rends compte que je n’ai rien écrit ici de tout le week-end. À la base, je voulais vraiment me tenir à une publication par jour. Mais la vie fait que ça ne se passe pas toujours comme prévu.
Avec @altheana, c’était notre tout premier week-end complet à la maison depuis fin novembre. J’avais imaginé tout un programme dans ma tête. Plein de petites choses à faire. Et au final, je ne l’ai pas vraiment suivi. Ce n’est pas très grave. Je crois que je dois aussi apprendre à ne pas toujours avoir un programme.
Samedi, j’ai tondu l’herbe. Première tonte de l’année.
Pendant ce temps, @altheana s’occupait de la haie. On n’a toujours pas acheté de taille-haie, donc elle utilise un sécateur. C’est beaucoup plus long. Et surtout, avec le mouvement répétitif et la pression dans les mains, ça fait vite des cloques.
Mais elle a bien avancé.
Il faudra que je mette un peu d’argent de côté pour acheter un taille-haie. Non pas qu’on ne puisse pas se le permettre. Mais en ce moment, j’essaie d’économiser pour l’achat d’une maison, quelques voyages et aussi pour les imprévus. Donc j’essaie de temporiser certains achats quand on peut encore s’en passer.
Toute la semaine, on a fait attention à bien manger. Et on a réussi. Mais ce week-end, on avait envie de relâcher un peu la pression qu’on se met parfois. Du coup, on a acheté des pâtes chinoises toutes faites. Juste à réchauffer.
C’est simple. Et surtout, c’est très réconfortant pour nous. Ça nous rappelle un voyage où nous avions traversé l’Europe en train. Puis pris un bateau. Et fini par passer une semaine en Sardaigne. En arrivant là-bas, on avait mangé exactement ce genre de pâtes.
Dimanche, en coupant du bois, j’ai trouvé ce petit insecte rouge dans une bûche. C’est un insecte xylophage.
Et ça m’a fait penser à un autre problème. Depuis environ 2 semaines, dans la chambre, derrière le placo, on entend tous les soirs un bruit régulier. Tic. Tic. Tic. Parfois pendant une bonne partie de la nuit.
Après quelques recherches sur internet, il semblerait que ce soit la vrillette. Le mâle tape dans le bois pour attirer la femelle. Ensuite, elle pond des larves qui grignotent le bois. Peut-être que ça vient de notre bois de chauffage. Nous avons vu quelques insectes comme celui-ci se balader dans la maison.
Ce n’est clairement pas une très bonne nouvelle. Il va falloir agir assez vite. Le problème, c’est qu’on ne sait pas trop vers qui se tourner pour traiter ça.
Si on attend trop longtemps, le risque serait de devoir refaire toute la charpente. Et apparemment, le traitement est déjà très coûteux en lui-même.
Du coup, le taille-haie va sûrement attendre encore un peu. Chaque problème en son temps.
Pendant ce temps, @altheana a fait de magnifiques cookies au beurre de cacahuète. Et ils ne sont pas seulement beaux. Ils sont aussi excellents.
Pour finir mon dimanche, j’ai rallumé la PS3 et je me suis fait une partie de Splinter Cell. Un jeu que j’aime beaucoup. Ça faisait plusieurs années que je n’y avais pas rejoué.
