Hive is drifting into the same trap that killed Steemit, and too many people are pretending not to see it. Large whales keep voting the same accounts and DHF proposals with zero transparency, while a growing percentage of smaller accounts survive almost entirely on delegation-based bot votes. Roughly 75 percent of visible rewards are effectively bought, either through paid subscriptions or locked-up Hive delegations.
This has created a culture where posting isn’t about ideas or interaction. It’s about obligation. Max out a 2,500 Hive delegation, post daily, collect your vote. That’s the deal. You can post two sentences and get paid. Engagement is optional. Meaning is irrelevant. We’ve already seen how this ends.
Steemit proved this model doesn’t work. People powered up large amounts, delegated for votes, and chased daily rewards while real activity died. Prices collapsed harder than any rewards ever made up for. The only thing that grew was the illusion of value under each post. Hive is not there yet, but the rhyme is getting louder.
What makes this worse is the refusal to admit reality. Activity is bleeding. The DHF is full of waste and circular funding. Yet the community narrative insists Hive is growing and thriving. It isn’t. Pretending otherwise only accelerates the decline.
Then there’s the fantasy surrounding HBD. Claims that it will become a dominant stablecoin or be adopted by Bitcoin infrastructure are not optimism, they’re delusion. Algorithmic pegs already failed. The market chose centralized, asset-backed stablecoins. That decision is over.
Hive doesn’t need cheerleading. It needs honesty. It needs whales and devs willing to admit the current model isn’t working and that growth isn’t happening. Without that, there is no course correction.
I care about a lot of people here. That’s exactly why I’m done pretending. Hive needs a reckoning, not another layer of bots, narratives, or forced optimism.

I’m posting my original un touched version below, I normally don’t type enough to worry about correcting minor mistakes or worry about tightening things up but for this I did. My original is below!

All I see is the bigger whales voting for the same accounts and DHF proposals that they did before, with no receipts ever shown. Makes me wonder why. The smaller accounts who get about $10 on regular posts, 75 percent of them use multiple 2,500 delegations just to get a vote. If Leo votes them, there’s a 99 percent chance they’re paying a monthly subscription for that vote. It tends to be 75 percent of votes that are “bought,” either from delegating or buying straight up.
Even great people I consider friends are doing this, and I just don’t get it. Multiple accounts even get 90 percent of their daily post rewards from delegations or buying through Leo subscriptions. What’s the point? Some have interaction, some don’t. I just don’t get it. I understand why someone in a third world country would post for pennies a day just to get some value, but I don’t understand the huge group that posts daily with no interaction just to get 90 percent of votes from accounts that only vote in exchange for delegations.
This is exactly what Steemit turned into years ago, and it was obvious nobody read or commented on those posts. Accounts would leave 10K Steem powered up and delegate most of it out to get votes for every daily post. The Steem price collapsed far more than any rewards added up to, and it was a totally bad bet over years. Most of these are Hive users who post over there just to get these “owed” daily votes, but again, if they had just sold that Steem and powered it down, they’d be way ahead dollar-wise. It’s like a weird addiction to the visual effect of seeing value on each post, but long term it’s moronic.
I’m obviously not saying Hive is in the same boat right now. Hive has real interaction and other projects running on it. Still, it’s concerning to see so many accounts posting only for 90 percent bot votes like SGS or Ed’s, where you max out at a 2,500 Hive delegation and get a daily vote. SGS is a gated community and you must be a member, but it’s literally just an auto-vote from a bot. You can post two sentences and get it. This leads to people mailing in posts daily because they feel if they don’t post, they’re missing out on something “owed” to them. This doesn’t end well.
I love many Hive accounts, but the overall community seems stuck pretending Hive is growing and everything is fine. It’s not. We’re bleeding activity, the DHF is full of waste and abuse, and nothing changes. I stopped delegating to SGS and Ed’s months ago and I don’t mind the reduction in votes. If I’m going to criticize it, I don’t want to be a hypocrite.
Bottom line, smaller accounts feel split between people posting for fun and entertainment and people doing it as a routine, mailing in posts just to get “owed” votes. To anyone new, this looks ridiculous. Like, welcome! Most of what you see is bot votes where people lock up Hive in delegations in exchange for one daily vote. It feels like we’re heading for disaster, and even many good people are stuck in the mindset of “post whatever, I want my daily vote.” There are exceptions, obviously, but it’s a large group doing this.
Onto the devs. At Hive Fest 2025, a DHF-funded dev proclaimed that HBD was soon going to be one of the most widely used stablecoins and that the Bitcoin network would pick HBD as its main stablecoin. This is beyond nonsensical and false. It’s not just foolish. HBD has no future as a widely used business stablecoin. HBD had a reasonable purpose: issuing part of rewards in something stable. Now the community proclaims it’s completely safe and the peg will never break. Most algorithmic or artificially pegged tokens failed. The market chose centralized, value-backed stablecoins.
We as a community could deal with this if whales and devs just admitted where we actually are. Hive is not in a good place. If we admitted that, we could change course. Instead, we get a fake, ridiculous narrative that we’re growing and doing great. No, we are not.
We need a total rebranding and a total admission of reality. I don’t see that ever happening. I love many people here, but I can’t sit and watch the nonsense anymore.
Everytime I hear people talking about the future of hive, I ask myself why I came to hive. The answer is that my thoughts will be preserved on a distributed blockchain that can survive me. The economic thrive to keep Hive alive might not need of a huge revolutionary success to achieve that goal. As long as there are non destructive witnesses deleting or actively powering down. I think my content will be preserved.
I understand your point but even if there are parasites and not so low bleeding of capital from the Hive ecosystem. I keep thinking that the community and witnesses are still willing to participate and throw hardware into the chain so my goals are still a priority. I would need to talk to the Hive high council and whales how far are them from shutting their servers down, but I think for now, we are safe.
It's not a small group that's brought me here. It's 99% the community accepting DHF fraud & waste as ok & devs & witnesses refusing to even acknowledge there claims are nonsense. Like I said I'll stick around part time, but no longer will I invest time daily like I have for 8 years. Just saw many regular users leave without saying this stuff, I felt like speaking up. The problem isn’t a group milking rewards for bot votes regularly, it’s that it’s most the community doing this and even devs & witnesses refuse to acknowledge we need change to stop this bleeding of users & crushing value of our token. Oh & No doubt even after they go, hobbyists will run nodes. No decentralized cryptos just fail & go to zero. They go to .000355 cents and hobbyists run nodes. They don't stop, they just drift into being obscure and disappear from most peoples minds.
I understand what are you saying, but what will be the outcome of all this? Going to zero? Will we reach zero? Will people fork? Will fork work out? What about parallel communities like Leo, like SportWach, like Blocktunes, or Splinterlands which have their own tokens and economy? Will the Hive blockchain stop if we reach $0?
BTW my take is to switch to the Hive standard. Where the DHF payout is done on Hive and not HDB and is your best interest for Hive to keep it's market price or keeps growing if you want your project to benefit from it.
It will be going sub penny I believe, zero no, but failed cryptos don’t go to zero, hobbyists somewhere run nodes and it slowly goes to sub penny and just into obscurity. Goes to .00023533 and pumps 800% as random people trade tiny cap tokens but stays sub penny and just moved up & down. I am keeping 2500 Hive loaded up on an alt account and will do long leases with it. If I’m wrong I’ll have a little stake left in game. I just don’t like what I’m seeing and believe it’s going down into obscurity next two years. I made plenty selling a lot of hive I bought in 2020 & early 2021 between .09 & .18 cents , selling at $3.33 a portion & rest between $1.80 & $2.85 as I powered down 100K hp in late 2021 after we went to ridiculous levels I thought were way higher than fair. So I’m well into house money, but I still feel like taking some stake off table to vote my displeasure.

I think we need another Ralley Car.. I think we should have tried to work with JS instead of just forking off and doing it own thing.. and if we were gonna do that we should have burned the ninja mine. I agree, we need to descentralize the funding mechanism and also add a group that can review and really have a framework to validate such investments.
I think the fear is that the money is not being spent and become a wasted opportunity. Unfortunately most investments are a waste of money, thats why VCs invest in many ventures expecting only 1 to work out. So I get the dilemma facing the investor.
The investor is no investor if he's investing with DHF fund, which is nothing more than a future collective debt added to the pool of hive and diluting it's value further.
People purchasing hive with USD like me are the ones paying this debt with lower and lower value of the token. After seeing what kind of 'investments' are done I refuse to be the idiot 'taxpayer' paying for the public money laundering schemes.
Already powered it all down, and I will follow the cleaning of the chain management (or lack thereof) from a zero investment seat.
I'm not trying to escape from the political crooks in the real world, milking the society with laws, fake NGOs and whatnot just to throw my money at the exact same scam schemes on hive.

It's been the issue here for the past few years. As more people left and things have not changed, I am losing hope that the large stakeholders care about fixing things. The DHF is definitely the number one issue.

BEER.For over a year now, I've had a stable feeling that I'm standing still. No matter how many posts I make, my account value doesn't go up. There is some support, but I can't cross the $30 threshold. Previously, rewards were paid, including in hbd. And there with each successful publication (and there were very few of them) I received something tangible. At the same time, all the power of the hive and other tokens were constantly depreciating and dragging to the bottom.
Instead of $300 in HIVE, I only have $30. That is, I am really standing still due to the stable depreciation of the token.
Unfortunately, this is the reality.
I also notice how often my publications, on which I spend ecency points, do not receive any support at all. And this is also a waste of energy.
Sad. I wish it were better. But...
Yeah, we've been saying this for quiet sometime now. And many that have pointed out have been having their accounts wrecked thanks to this rigged reputation scoring.
I stopped caring about the rewards for financial aid of whatever kind. This is why I add a donation option instead. I only power up what I can for more leverage. I never powered down what I have received from the community, only part of what I myself have invested. Even now I earn more from blurt and am taking from that to convert into HP.
I also been pointing out the behaviors that is wrecking this town but sadly it falls on deaf ears. Honestly at the end of the day I don't care either. I just keep doing my own thing. Maybe things will change but who really knows. The control freaks at the top are too comfortable in their power.

Yeah I knew before posting I might get hit, but I sadly believe this ship is going to keep going down. Even old friends from all these years just seem grumpy on here now. Even people not getting into discussion just seem frustrated often lately. I think the model is doomed, I don’t see Blurt as a solution or any fork most likely. DVing is abused no doubt, but it’s not even the biggest issue at this point, it’s a value sucking machine at top and even median accounts mostly just buy votes and use it as a way to just post garbage daily to get said votes daily.
This is why I stopped posting on hive, because I tried my possible best to be consistently posting, but no upvotes because I don't have enough power to delegate.
Hive can't keep new members/creators because the system is so centralize that small account doesn't have any vote or few cent. This is completely rubbish.
I see many posts here having almost 400 to 500 upvotes, but when I checked, the post actually has no views, not even a single person who has read it and then I keep wondering why that post has up to 400 upvotes.
But a little account will have nothing. I tried talking about this sometimes ago, but they answer I got was that I was hunting for an upvotes, when clearly everyone here is engaging for upvotes and earnings. Everyone! There is no body creating content anywhere is actually doing it for fun.
Therefore I had to stop posting on hive and post just only when I care.

Hive can't keep newcomers except invited by a person behind a bigger account.
The system is so corrupt and too centralized.
And what's the need for DHF ? Why funding projects? And why are those projects requesting for funding when they are completely running their business?
They should prepare business expenses and all funding before building or they can ask for support and donations from their community.
Most of these dapps on hive do almost the same thing.
I have a lot of thoughts about all of it. We aren't alone over here in feeling the downward pressure after not having a full blown alt season. The Arena token and AVAX are really getting pressed despite having a lot of positive things going for it. Same thing with the Internet Computer Protocol and platforms like OpenChat. OpenChat is pretty impressive.
The tokens have really been pressed.
Any of the socials have been extremely hard to monetize in general. YouTube kept tightening the noose and when you put up a video it tries to put in an insane amount of ads.
Hive is basically that the buyer demand out paces the token inflation and also hopefully the US Dollar inflation biting our heels as well but currently most aren't buying into the game theory. Same with other systems like AVAX. Prices have been crushed.
The chain really hasn't been marketed effectively which doesn't make a lot of sense considering there is the DHF.
Basically the thing has always been that you have to buy a huge stake and build a completed app to then MAYBE get funding. Thar simply isn't going to work. Imagine Microsoft saying that you have to own 1,000 shares and build a new product to get an interview with them.
It's very much a scarcity mentality when it comes to the funds.
There's not enough revenue sources that are external. The DHF could be used to private label it's own energy drinks, eBikes, ....etc
The focus has been more digital but using the funding to build real world businesses that replenish and stack more for the fund is what I feel it should branch to. Digital stuff as well. More game development, prediction market, etc.
I like the premise of HBD and feel it could become a bigger player with more centralized exchange listings or the tokenization across various chains. It is the best implantation of a Algo stable coin we have seen.
The whole ecosystem is at risk and it's hard to start living a life of abundance when investors are upside down and funds seem more scarce.

They didnt ask for a lot of money, they are doing great job to use Hive as it should be used, and still didnt get votes... but "valuplan" is alwayes get their money, and waste them...
But, we need just about 1 200 000$ to start here revolution. It should be enough to stop funding all of the proposals.
