I Take A Look & Share Future Releases From Huge Nineties Bands And Look At The Besr Tunes They Went On To Release Years Later!

Wasn’t sure exactly what to post today, already did my punk rock Christmas tunes on Three Tune Tuesday earlier this week. So I thought I’d bring ya Nineties Friday a day early and give ya some standard favorite music for anyone tired of the Christmas music already 😂. This week for Nineties Friday it will be a Four Tune Friday too!

I’m going to mix it up and do something different this week! I’m going to pick 4 bands who broke big in the nineties but pick tunes I like from at least ten years into the future. So you’ll be getting tunes from after 2005 and some bases 15 years after the bands first big break of success in the nineties. I’m challenging myself to not just pick early 2000’s tunes shortly after the bands nineties success by making it a 10 year minimum, but in most cases it’s 12-18 years after the bands first hit in the nineties!

Just to refresh you’ll memories here’s one song from each bands mega nineties success! After that I’ll discuss and share songs from way into the future that I think are really solid tracks! So technically you get double the songs this week! 🎸

Ok now onto my main picks from the bands futures! Let me know in comments if you think these post nineties tunes hold up or not!

First up it’s Green Day! A band who had there first big run of success when they released 1994’s Dookie. Fast forward and the had plenty of success in the later nineties but fell off a bit and then boom 2004 they released the biggest selling rock album of the 2000’s with American Idiot. I’m going to the 2009 follow up album for my song pick!

Second up I’m going with Weezer who also first broke it big in 1994! Releasing the Self Titled (Blue) Album in 1994 the band had hits like Buddy Holly & Say It Ain’t So. I’m fast forwarding to 2008 so 14 years after the bands first run of mainstream success. Like Green Day,Weezer had more big hits in the 2000’s but by 2008 this album also was a bit of a letdown from the mainstream success view. That said I like this song a lot so enjoy!

Third up its Blink-182 who had there first hit in 1997 with the song Dammit! They reached even bigger nights on the following album in 1999 with songs like What’s My Age Again & All The Small Things. They released hugely successful follow-ups in 2001 & 2003 and frankly were huge! They then randomly broke up in 2004 and would stay that way until 2009. I will be picking a song off the second release after they got back together.

To go in a different direction for fourth pick I went with the Spin Doctors who had huge mainstream success off the 1992 released album “Pocket Full of Kryptonite” They had two singles on radio and did SNL before the 1993 release of Two Princes as a single which broke huge! Pop radio and everywhere!
I will pick a song off the very lesser known 2005 album “Nice Talkng To Me” which frankly sounds like it could have been the immediate follow up to the 1992 classic record, the albums that followed in the nineties didn’t have the success of the 1992 record but I think this album did, it just came 2 late.

For a Bonus pick I go late nineties to 1999 Limp Bizkit who had massive hits off there 1999 second album! I fast forward 22 years to bring you a song from there 2021 record! To me it sounds like it could have been on the same album!
