5/3/25 💿 Gene & Ashlee’s Hive post for Eighties Saturday! Just Picking Some DailyJams From The 1986 & 1989 Punk Scene! 🎸
On this #EightiesSaturday me & Ashlee go full eighties punk rock!
Gene picks the band Youth Of Today after searching through eighties punk bands from California for current ThreeTuneTuesday series focusing on Southern California eighties punk rock. I stumbled on Youth Of Today from the New York City hardcore punk scene along the search and thought they’d be a good choice for today! I pick the songs Make a Change & Thinking Straight from the album Break Down the Walls (1986).
Ashlee goes with a well known nineties band but who’s first album came out in 1989 five years before they got mainstream success. The Offspring and the songs Jennifer Lost the War & Blackball from 1989 debut album “The Offspring”. They definitely weren’t as polished but It’s sloppy low budget Offspring and you can definitely hear the vibe they had on 1994’s Smash years later. It’s just low budget on the production.
I post music posts here on Hive every Tuesday for #ThreeTuneTuesday , Fridays for #NinetiesFriday both with vlog! Also on Saturday I post using tag #EightiesSaturday generally doing a more low key post & on occasion on Sunday for #SeventiesSunday. Please join me on Tuesdays & Fridays in particular! Cheers! 🎸

Your music posts are always such a good vibe! Whether it's high energy or chill, there's always something new I end up adding to my playlists.
Love the songs so much
Thanks!
Some cool picks, Offspring from the 80's. Only hardcore fans have listened to it, and it's awesome! Youth Of Today isn't a band I know well, I know they were hard core punk. And the videos you included prove it! I liked Thinking Straight, that's a cool song!
