The inspiration the recreation IX | The pepper red dress.

Hello wonderful people of needlework community and welcome to yet again another recreation episode by @gemangel. well I know I always say I am particularly excited about making a dress but today, I am honestly very excited to share this recreation although I don’t know if it qualifies to be a recreation anymore or a creation itself because this particular dress was inspired by many things but most of all, it was inspired by my love for the color red.
Pepper red to be precise.

I am so excited because I have always wanted to own a pepper red dress but not only did it feel out of reach but indisposed. All in all I’m happy I could finally tick a box off my childhood list.

For a really long time, I have admire the color red on actresses on movie set for me the color red means so many thing, it means bold, charming and most of all elegant and I am so excited I was able to make myself into something so beautiful.

Without wasting much time, all I used in creating this dress is;
• Two yards of crepe fabric
• Matching thread
• a zipper
• an beaded applique
• pattern paper (optional)
• curve ruler
• chalk
The measurement I used:
• Length
• Shoulder
• Bust
• Under bust
• Round Waist
• Hips
• Bust point
• Under bust point
• Waistline
• Nipple to nipple

STEPS

I started by drafting the upper part on a pattern paper. I drafted out the front part in form of a princess dart. And for the back, I drafted out a normal dart and eliminated it from the pattern itself because I didn’t want my dress to have a dart anywhere else than the front.

I then drafted out the down skirt pattern on a pattern paper and eliminated the fabric.

I went on with the sewing. I joined the front and ironed out the pattern and I the cut out a small piece to turn the up of the front part and the back part.

I joined the back park of the dress and the front part and the finished it up by joining the sides ad adding a zipper.
The sleeve was one simplest thing. It was just a 12inches long and 8ninches wide. The only reason it came out like an actual sleeve was because I actually left space for an armhole.

I finished it up with the beautiful bead applique and just like that I have a wonderful red dress that can be used for a dinner outing or church. Hope you loved it as much as I loved making it.

Till next time I still remain your enthusiastic fashion lover @gemangel
