What You Eat Can Save You From Cancer

I remember mentioning in my previous post that what we eat can either add to our problem or be part of our health solution and in this post, I want to look at food and their ability to reduce the risk of cancer.

There are a lot of cancers that affect our bodies. Remember that all cancers are not the same even when they affect the same area. They can be malignant growth, effects from viruses, and cells refusing to die becoming a problem to our health. Cancer can happen at any part of our body even in our intestines which includes the small intestine and the colon.

The colon is the area where waste is transported to after being digested and absorbed in the small intestine. Colon cancer for example is becoming very common among people of all ages and when we look at it carefully, a lot of colon cancer could have been avoided by just eating right. For instance, eating fiber-rich food could help with making feces softer which is needed for it to move through the intestine and out as stool.

Amongst the several ways to reduce your risk of cancer which include exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, stopping smoking, reducing or stopping alcohol intake, preventing transmissible viruses, especially STIs, and eating healthy, the most fun of it all should be eating healthy but it is surprising how a lot of us do not even take it into consideration.

Simply eating fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can do a lot of good for our health compared to eating processed food, and junks that won't help our gut at all. Red meat and processed meat are delicious when cooked properly no doubt, but keeping them to the barest minimum should be a target.

A lot of you cannot do without eating unhealthy fats it looks like it is a way to show style and class but these things do not matter anymore when on a hospital bed so why disturb yourself with them when you can just avoid them all along. If you make fruits and vegetables a part of every meal, it wouldn't hurt you, instead it will do you more good.

In the case of colon cancer, the inability of your feces to move through the colon easily could lead to unhealthy microbes reaching them which would trigger inflammation, then irritation which would over time lead to damage to the gut.

Food is not a treatment for any type of cancer, rather it helps to prevent them or better still minimize a possible occurrence. Taking 25 to 30 grams of fibre daily is good enough for adults and unless one is undergoing treatment, one shouldn't stop taking for a long time.
