What Is Truly A State Of Nothingness?

avatar

I wanted to write a post and I thought about the best thing to write only to conclude by writing on the topic nothing. Like this post is about nothing and when I say nothing what comes to mind? Is it the picture of a black space, an empty room, or even a white open area, some of you who have been to space could think about the emptiness of space as nothing, and some people like myself will just not think about anything.

Nice try, but no matter how much you try to think about anything, it is impossible. You can then say that 0 is nothing but come to think of it, it has a name so why will it be nothing when it means something? Maybe nothing is just a thing we made up to differentiate every other thing referred to as something.

If you decide to ask a person sitting and looking at what they are doing and they respond that they are doing nothing, then you should know for sure that it isn't true because that person was doing something. In literal terms, the person was sitting and looking, and this doesn't include the numerous other things that could have been done or that they were doing in the process of sitting and looking including the involuntary ones. The majority of the time when we say nothing, we do not mean the absence of quantity or magnitude which is actually what nothing means (non-existence). Nothing would refer to a true empty void and total emptiness.

The zero that people refer to as nothing was invented at some point in human history to explain reality. Zero as in 0 is a number that is used to represent none of something that exists. For instance, when you see 1012, it just means One thousand and Twelve, the 0 is a symbol to show that there isn't a hundred in the number. So we see that 0 at this point is a placeholder but it isn't the same as meaning Mathematical Nothing.

This was first referred to as Nothingness, a point between negative and positive figures. It was first referred to as Sunya. Back to the Greeks and Aristotle, they defined nothingness as Quintessence which is the invisible something where there seems to be nothing. But then, we could say something being empty means it has nothing in it but that’s quite not it, empty isn’t nothing. An empty box contains air, dust particles, possibly dead skin, microbes, and so on, and even when we try to eliminate those things from there, it will be difficult to get complete emptiness with nothing.

When you are not thinking about anything, it doesn’t mean you are thinking about nothing. The mind is wondering but it isn’t fixed to one thing. So there is always something that you and I might refer to as nothing, but that thing in itself is something and it will be difficult to arrive at a true nothingness.
