Saludos hivers. El mes pasado la Fundación de Cultura de La Victoria, la ciudad donde vivo, inauguró su primera exposición de arte del 2024. La misma esta compuesta por obras de artistas del estado Aragua, siendo el homenajeado especial, el artista Jorge Villegas Nieves.

Hello hivers. Last month the Culture Foundation of La Victoria, the city where I live, inaugurated its first art exhibition of 2024. It's composed of works by artists from the state of Aragua, with the special honoree being the artist Jorge Villegas Nieves.

Esta exposición, que estuvo abierta al público desde el 15 de febrero hasta hoy, 21 de marzo en la galería del Museo Casa de Mariño, sede de la Fundación de cultura, contó con la participación de 17 artistas de diferentes partes del estado Aragua.

This exhibition, which was open to the public from February 15 to today, March 21 in the Casa de Mariño Museum gallery, headquarters of the Culture Foundation, featured the participation of 17 artists from different parts of the Aragua state.

No pude ir el día de la inauguración de la exposición sino unos días después, lo que es mejor cuando quieres tomar fotos porque la sala está con menos o nada de gente, aunque por lo general y lamentablemente, en esta ciudad no hay mucho público que aprecie el arte 🙄😒 así que es raro encontrar la sala con mucho público después del primer día 😕🤷🏻‍♀️.

I couldn't go on the opening day of the exhibition but a few days later, which is better when you want to take photos because the room is less or not crowded, although generally and unfortunately, in this city there isn't much public that appreciates art 🙄😒 so it's rare to find the room with a lot of people after the first day 😕🤷🏻‍♀️.

The Aragua state has been a cradle and source of inspiration for artists of various genres. La primera sección de la galería la ocupan cuatro obras del artista homenajeado, Jorge Villegas Nieves (1948), oriundo de la población de San Mateo y con una trayectoria de 48 años como pintor.

The first section of the gallery is occupied by four works by the honored artist, Jorge Villegas Nieves (1948), a native of the town of San Mateo and with a career of 48 years as a painter.

La siguiente pintura de estilo cubista me impresionó enormemente por su colorido y belleza, esta artista y educadora de La Victoria será la protagonista de la próxima exposición que se hará aquí en la galería del Museo Casa de Mariño en el mes de abril.

Aunque no es del estado Aragua, el maestro José Caldas ha desarrollado toda su carrera aquí, es uno de los artistas más reconocidos del estado y de Venezuela y ha recibido muchos premios, ha participado en más de 300 exposiciones nacionales y sus obras también han estado presentes en galerías internacionales. Sus pinturas se centran en el color como energía. Tuve el privilegio de ver clases de pintura con él hace varios años atrás, y una de las principales cosas que aprendí fue a perder el miedo de usar los colores en mis dibujos jajaja ya que yo casi siempre dibujaba sólo con lápiz de grafito 😬.

Although he isn't from the state of Aragua, Master José Caldas has developed his entire career here, he is one of the most recognized artists in the state and in Venezuela and has received many awards, he has participated in more than 300 national exhibitions and his works have also been present in international galleries. His paintings focus on color as energy. I had the privilege of seeing painting classes with him several years ago, and one of the main things I learned was to lose the fear of using colors in my drawings hahaha since I almost always drew only with a graphite pencil 😬.

Esta galería recibe mucha iluminación natural durante todo el día así que no es frecuente ver encendidos los bombillos de la sala de exposiciones al menos que el día esté muy nublado o haya algún evento en horas de la tarde.

This gallery receives a lot of natural lighting throughout the day so it's not common to see the light bulbs in the exhibition room on unless the day is very cloudy or there is an event in the afternoon.

Conversando con el curador y encargado de la galería, el sr. Humberto Palacios, que también es artista plástico, me dijo que la coincidencia temática de estos tres cuadros presentados por tres artistas diferentes ocurrió de manera totalmente fortuita, así que los ubicaron juntos. Sin duda que Don Quijote es un personaje que sigue inspirando a todo el mundo.

Talking with the curator and manager of the gallery, Mr. Humberto Palacios, who is also a visual artist, told me that the thematic coincidence of these three paintings presented by three different artists occurred completely by chance, so they were placed together. Without a doubt, Don Quixote is a character that continues to inspire everyone.

Y para cerrar este recorrido una obra del curador y encargado de la galería, Humberto Palacios, él mismo me contó que se inspira en lo abstracto y figurativo para crear sus piezas, esta piedra de opalina fue esculpida cuidadosamente con un cincel y luego pintada con pintura metalizada.

And to close this tour, a work by the curator and manager of the gallery, Humberto Palacios, who himself told me that he is inspired by the abstract and figurative to create his pieces, this opaline stone was carefully sculpted with a chisel and then painted with metallic paint.

Para los que nos gusta el arte, siempre es interesante ir a exposiciones y ver las diferentes maneras que tiene cada artista de expresar sus sentimientos, ideas o la forma de ver el mundo. Unas son sencillas y otras más complejas, algunas nos sorprenden por su sencillez y otras por sus muy cuidados detalles. El arte existe para que cada quien lo aprecie y disfrute a su propio juicio.

For those of us who like art, it's always interesting to go to exhibitions and see the different ways that each artist has of expressing their feelings, ideas or way of seeing the world. Some are simple and others more complex, some surprise us with their simplicity and others with their very careful details. Art exists for everyone to appreciate and enjoy at their own discretion.
