Saludos hivers. Honrar a las abejas es honrar la vida ya que gran parte del alimento que consumimos es producto de su pequeña pero inmensa labor. Sin abejas la naturaleza perdería a uno de sus trabajadores más prodigiosos, y el impacto para el medio ambiente y la civilización humana sería catastrófico y generaría una grave crisis alimentaria en todo el mundo.

Hello hivers. Honoring bees is honoring life, since much of the food we consume is the product of their small but immense work. Without bees, nature would lose one of its most prodigious workers, and the impact on the environment and human civilization would be catastrophic and generate a serious food crisis worldwide.

Todo lo relacionado a ellas es fascinante, desde su estructura social, el trabajo diario que realizan visitando las flores, hasta los productos que elaboran y la forma y organización de sus colmenas. Mucho antes que el ser humano empezara a tener una mínima idea de lo que es una sociedad, una construcción, el trabajo en equipo y la producción, ya las abejas lo sabían y lo hacían a la perfección. Desde afuera un panal parece un simple bulto de donde salen y entran abejas y muchos zumbidos, pero la verdad es que es toda una maravilla de la construcción, la ingeniería y la arquitectura 👌🏻.

Everything about them is fascinating, from their social structure, the daily work they do visiting flowers, to the products they make and the shape and organization of their hives. Long before humans began to have the slightest idea of what a society, a structure, teamwork, and production are, bees already knew this and performed it perfectly. From the outside, a beehive looks like a simple lump from which bees enter and exit, and a lot of buzzing, but the truth is that it's a marvel of construction, engineering, and architecture.

Aquí en esta gran colmena llamada Hive todos somos pequeñas abejas obreras que trabajamos día a día para crear la miel, la jalea real, el propóleo y la cera que fortalecerán nuestra comunidad y la impulsarán a ser cada día más prospera, y a nosotros también junto a ella. Para rendirle honores a estas trabajadoras incansables decidí hacer una colmena usando solamente material de reciclaje que todos tenemos en casa. Este proyecto lo hice para participar en el concurso de las abejas pero como lo dejé para último momento pues no me dió tiempo de publicarlo 🥴😬🤷🏻‍♀️. Los invito a observar el paso a paso. Here in this great beehive called Hive, we are all little worker bees working day after day to create the honey, royal jelly, propolis, and wax that will strengthen our community and drive it to become more prosperous every day, and us along with it. To honor these tireless workers, I decided to make a hive using only recycled material that we all have at home. I made this project to participate in the bee contest, but since I left it to the last minute, I didn't have time to publish it 🥴😬🤷🏻‍♀️. I invite you to observe the step-by-step process. Para realizar este trabajo de manualidades utilicé:
🐝 Un cartón de huevos
🐝 4 rollos de papel higiénico o papel de cocina
🐝 Lápiz
🐝 Regla
🐝 Pinceles
🐝 Pintura al frio amarilla y negra o marcadores de esos colores
🐝 Marcador rojo o rosado
🐝 Tijera
🐝 Pega blanca o la que tengan
🐝 Un pedacito de cartón negro y blanco
🐝 Un pedazo de hoja blanca
🐝 Un palito de incienso, de hisopos o una ramita delgada
🐝 Un pedazo de cartón o cartulina negra

To make this craft, I used:
🐝 An egg carton
🐝 4 toilet paper rolls or kitchen paper rolls
🐝 Pencil
🐝 Ruler
🐝 Paintbrushes
🐝 Yellow and black paint or markers of those colors
🐝 Red or pink marker
🐝 Scissors
🐝 White glue or whatever you have
🐝 A small piece of black and white cardboard
🐝 A piece of white paper
🐝 An incense stick, cotton swab, or a thin twig
🐝 A piece of cardboard or black cardstock

🐝 Paso 1: tomé los rollos, corté aros de 2 cms de ancho y los pinté de amarillo. Algunos aros los hice más pequeños para que la colmena se vea más natural. Sí ustedes quieren hacer una colmena mas grande, simplemente deben cortar mas rollos.

🐝 Step 1: I took the rolls, cut 2 cm wide rings, and painted them yellow. I made some of the rings smaller to make the hive look more natural. If you want to make a larger hive, just cut more rolls.

🐝 Paso 2: después que la pintura se secó empecé a unir los aros con una engrapadora. Antes de hacerlo le di forma a la colmena sobre la mesa para ver cómo se vería y facilitar el proceso de armarla.

🐝 Step 2: After the paint dried, I started stapler-ing the hoops together. Before doing so, I shaped the hive on the table to see how it would look and to make the assembly process easier.

🐝 Paso 3: a continuación armé las abejitas, para hacerlo corté los conitos, esas partes del cartón donde van metidos los huevos, como iba a hacer tres abejas, corté seis. Hay que cortarlos lo más rectos posibles para que se ajusten bien uno a otro. Después de eso junté ambas partes con pega blanca.

🐝 Step 3: Next, I assembled the bees. To do this, I cut the cones, the cardboard parts where the eggs are placed. Since I was going to make three bees, I cut six. They need to be cut as straight as possible so they fit snugly together. After that, I glued the two pieces together with white glue.

🐝 Paso 4: cuando la pega se secó rectifiqué que estuviesen bien pegados, los pinté de amarillo y luego pinté las rayas negras.

🐝 Step 4: When the glue dried, I checked that they were well glued, painted them yellow, and then painted the black stripes.

🐝 Paso 5: llegó el momento de hacer los pequeños detalles de las abejas como son el aguijón, las antenas, los ojos y las alas. Para hacer el aguijón usé un palito reciclado de incienso y corté tres partes iguales de 2 cms. Las antenas las dibujé con un lápiz a mano alzada sobre un pedazo reciclado de cartón negro e hice lo mismo con los ojos pero usando cartón blanco. Para hacer las alas doblé una hoja blanca y dibujé el ala, lo hice así para que ambos lados quedaran simétricos.

🐝 Step 5: It was time to make the small details of the bees such as the stinger, antennae, eyes, and wings. To make the stinger, I used a recycled incense stick and cut three equal 2 cm pieces. I drew the antennae with a pencil freehand on a recycled piece of black cardboard and I did the same with the eyes but using white cardboard. To make the wings, I folded a white sheet of paper and drew the wing, I did this so that both sides were symmetrical.

🐝 Paso 6: vamos a darle vida a las abejas. Les pegué los ojos, las antenas y las alas con pega blanca, con una aguja gruesa y mucho cuidado hice un huequito y metí el aguijón. Y por último pinté los ojos y las bocas 💋.

🐝 Step 6: Let's bring the bees to life. I glued on the eyes, antennae, and wings with white glue. Using a thick needle, I carefully made a small hole and inserted the stinger. Finally, I painted the eyes and mouths 💋.

🐝 Paso 7: para darle más naturalidad a la colmena, usé una cartulina negra, le di la forma de la colmena dejando un espacio y la pegué por la parte de atrás. Para fijar las abejitas sobre el panal usé unos alfileres. Sí quieren que tenga un aspecto más prolijo pueden pasarle una o dos capas de pega blanca. Y así quedó este hermoso panal hecho con materiales reciclados ♻️. ¿Qué les parece? 😃

🐝 Step 7: To give the hive a more natural look, I used black cardboard, shaped it like the hive, leaving a space, and glued it to the back. To secure the bees to the hive, I used some pins. If you want a neater look, you can apply one or two coats of white glue. And that's how this beautiful honeycomb made with recycled materials turned out ♻️. What do you think? 😃
