Saludos hivers. Desde que empecé a pintar con la técnica de la acuarela no sé por qué pero las aves se han vuelto un tema recurrente, y hasta podría decir que uno de mis favoritos hasta ahora jejeje, tanto que hasta yo misma estoy sorprendida, no solamente porque nunca había pintado tantas aves antes jajaja, sino que también he descubierto que me salen bastante bien 😃🙈😁.

Hello hivers! Since I started painting with watercolors, I don't know why, but birds have become a recurring theme, and I could even say one of my favorites so far, hehehe. So much so that even I'm surprised, not only because I've never painted so many birds before, hahaha, but also because I've discovered that I'm quite good at it 😃🙈😁.

El día de hoy me he inspirado en un pato de collar o ánade real (Anas platyrhynchos) para realizar esta pintura, la cual hice sobre una cartulina reciclada de una caja de lentejas, el resto de los materiales fueron lápiz, borrador, pincel, acuarelas y pintura blanca.

Today I was inspired by a ring-necked duck (Anas platyrhynchos) to create this painting, which I made on recycled cardboard from a lentil box. The rest of the materials were pencil, eraser, brush, watercolors, and white paint.

Con un sencillo boceto empecé a darle forma este lindo pato.

With a simple sketch I began to give shape to this cute duck.

Comencé pintando de amarillo el característico pico que identifica a estas aves y seguidamente agregué verde, azul celeste y violeta, lo que significa que este pato es un macho. Los patos de collar presentan un marcado dimorfismo sexual, los machos tienen estos llamativos colores en la cabeza, el cuello y las alas, mientras que las hembras solamente tienen tonalidades marrones en todo su cuerpo y alas.

I started by painting with yellow the distinctive beak that identifies these birds, and then I added green, sky blue, and violet, which means this duck is a male. Ring-necked ducks exhibit marked sexual dimorphism; the males have these striking colors on their heads, necks, and wings, while the females only have brown tones on their bodies and wings.

Con un amarillo más oscuro marqué algunas sombras sobre el pico, agregué azul y también verde oscuro para darle mayor intensidad al color de las plumas del cuello y la cabeza.

With a darker yellow I marked some shadows on the beak, I added blue and also dark green to give greater intensity to the color of the feathers on the neck and head.

Seguí pintando las plumas de la cabeza con un pincel muy fino pero ahora usando un violeta y un azul mas oscuros, también empecé a darle color al cuerpo del pato con tonos marrones.

I continued painting the head feathers with a very fine brush, but now using a darker violet and blue. I also started to color the duck's body with brown tones.

Las plumas de estos patos son tornasol, y reflejan lo colores verde, azul y violeta, aunque en la zona del cuello el color que mas resalta es el verde. Pinté el ojo y las plumas del cuerpo. Para el fondo elegí un suave tono verde.

The feathers of these ducks are iridescent, reflecting green, blue, and violet, although green is the most prominent color around the neck. I painted the eye and the body feathers. For the background, I chose a soft shade of green.

Para darle ese toque tornasol que presentan los alas de los patos de collar, utilicé mis acuarelas metálicas y resalté esa hermosa iridiscencia verde - azul - violeta en la cabeza y el cuello, y con estos últimos detalles este pato quedó listo para darse un chapuzón.

To give it that iridescent touch that the wings of ring-necked ducks have, I used my metallic watercolors and highlighted that beautiful green-blue-violet iridescence on the head and neck, and with these last details this duck was ready to take a dip.
