Es carnaval, vamos al desfile 🥳🎠🎭 / It's carnival, let's go to the parade 🥳🎠🎭

Saludos hivers. El lunes y el martes fue carnaval, en Venezuela es una celebración muy popular, algunas personas aprovechan esos dos días feriados para ir a la playa, el río o la montaña, y muchas otras, se van a las plazas y las avenidas a ver los desfiles y pasar un día diferente y divertido con la típica alegría que caracteriza esta fecha. En mi ciudad todos los años se realiza el desfile de carnaval que recorre parte de la avenida principal así que yo también fuí a ver jejeje, y por supuesto aproveché por hacer algunas fotos.

Hello hivers! Monday and Tuesday were Carnival days, a very popular celebration in Venezuela. Some people take advantage of these two holidays to go to the beach, the river, or the mountains, while many others prefer to go to the plazas and avenues to watch the parades and enjoy a fun and different day filled with the typical joy that characterizes this time of year. In my city, the Carnival parade takes place every year along part of the main avenue, so I went to watch it too, hehehe, and of course, I took the opportunity to make some photos.

El desfile estaba pautado para comenzar a las 4 de la tarde, sin embargo, empezó después de las 5, no sé si el motivo fue esperar a que bajara un poquito la intensidad del sol y el calor, la desorganización o ambas 😂🤦🏻‍♀️. Había mucha gente, mi hermana y yo nos pusimos en el tramo final del recorrido, justo en la plaza que está frente a la avenida.

The parade was scheduled to start at 4 pm, however, it began after 5 pm. I don't know if it was to wait for the sun and heat to would lower its intensity a little, due to disorganization, or both 😂🤦🏻‍♀️. There were a lot of people, and my sister and I positioned ourselves at the very end of the route, right in the plaza across from the avenue.

En este desfile participaron 25 entidades entre escuelas, liceos, clubes de adultos mayores, etc. La temática de este año fue "nuestra venezolanidad", expresar todo lo que nos identifica como país a nivel cultural, social y de biodiversidad.

Twenty-five organizations participated in this parade, including schools, high schools, senior citizen clubs, and others. This year's theme was "Our Venezuelan Identity," expressing everything that identifies us as a country in terms of culture, society, and biodiversity.

La sayona 👻, una de las leyendas fantasmagóricas de la cultura popular venezolana. El miedo pasó a risa cuando la sayona empezó a bailar tambor 💃🏻😂, eso sí que no lo había visto ni imaginado nunca 🤣 / La Sayona 👻, one of the ghostly legends of Venezuelan popular culture. The fear turned to laughter when La Sayona started dancing to the drums 💃🏻😂, I'd never seen or imagined that before 🤣

Una de las cosas que más me gusta retratar en los carnavales, son obviamente los disfraces, sin embargo, había mucha gente y lo ideal hubiese sido llegar más temprano para hacerlo con calma, pero igual pude tomarle fotos algunos, había hasta perros disfrazados jajaja.

One of the things I most enjoy photographing at carnivals is obviously the costumes; however, there were a lot of people and it would have been ideal to arrive earlier to do it calmly, but I was still able to take some photos, there were even dogs in costumes, hahaha.

Nuestro árbol de aragüaney 🌳🌼 / Our araguaney tree 🌳🌼

En este desfile no podían faltar nuestros símbolos naturales, el aragüaney, el Turpial y la orquídea, que son nuestro árbol, nuestra ave y nuestra flor nacional respectivamente. Otros que también estuvieron presentes fueron las guacamayas, el chigüire (capibara), el jaguar, el mono, el salto Ángel (la catarata más alta del mundo), etc.

Our natural symbols, the araguaney tree (our national tree), the turpial (our national bird), and the orchid (our national flower), were essential to this parade. Other symbols present included macaws, capybaras, jaguars, monkeys, Salto Angel (the world's tallest waterfall), and more.

Batman parecía como perdido, ¿Será que estaba esperando el Batimóvil? 🤔😂 / Batman seemed lost, was he waiting for the Batmobile? 🤔😂

Entre las expresiones culturales estuvieron los tambores de la costa, las burriquitas, el baile de la Llora, el joropo, el Calipso y algunos personajes de la literatura venezolana como Doña Barbara.

Among the cultural expressions were the coastal drums, the burriquitas, the Llora dance, the joropo, the Calypso and some characters from Venezuelan literature such as Doña Barbara.

Por supuesto no podían faltar algunos de nuestros héroes de la independencia como Simón Bolívar y José Félix Ribas, personajes históricos como el dr José Gregorio Hernández, primer venezolano en ser declarado santo por la iglesia católica, esto ocurrió el año pasado. También el pueblo indígena estuvo representado por varias de las escuelas participantes.

Of course, some of our independence heroes, such as Simón Bolívar and José Félix Ribas, were present, as well as historical figures like Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, the first Venezuelan to be declared a saint by the Catholic Church, which happened last year. The indigenous community was also represented by several of the participating schools.

En años anteriores solían poner unas rejas o barandas a lo largo de toda la avenida por donde sería el desfile para que la gente no se estuviese atravesando y metiendo por donde pasarían las comparsas y así mantener el orden, este año no las pusieron y había mucho desorden 🙄, la gente interrumpía el desfile para tomarse fotos con los que estaban desfilando y obstaculizaban a los participantes 😒🤦🏻‍♀️.

In previous years, they used to put up fences or railings along the entire avenue where the parade would take place to prevent people from crossing and entering the area where the groups would pass, thus maintaining order. This year they didn't put them up and there was a lot of disorder 🙄. People were interrupting the parade to take pictures with those who were marching and were obstructing the participants 😒🤦🏻‍♀️.

Llegaron las burriquitas / The burriquitas (little donkeys) have arrived

Siempre me ha gustado el carnaval y me encanta disfrazarme jejeje así que no iba a perder la oportunidad de hacerlo porque para mí no tiene ningún sentido ir a un desfile de carnaval sin disfrazarme, eso va en contra de mi espíritu carnavalesco jajaja 🥳🤪, y además, es muy aburrido jajaja. Elegí un maquillaje de arlequín y listo 😁, mi hermana prefirió ir con su disfraz de día a día, o sea, de ella misma 😂🤷🏻‍♀️.

I've always loved carnival and I adore dressing up, hehehe, so I wasn't going to miss the chance to do it because, for me, it has no sense going to a carnival parade without a costume, that goes against my carnival spirit, hahaha 🥳🤪, and besides, it's so boring, hahaha. I chose harlequin makeup and that was it 😁. My sister preferred to go in her everyday costume, which is to say, as herself 😂🤷🏻‍♀️.

Al ir cayendo la tarde y oscurecer ya no se veían tan bien los disfraces y las comparsas así que no tomé mas fotos, el desfile terminó casi a las 7:30 de la noche, estábamos en la plaza y aún había mucha gente paseando y aprovechando para comer un helado, un frappé o alguna comida rápida que estaban vendiendo ahí. Nos fuimos a casa, estuvo divertido 💃🏻😁.

As evening fell and it got dark, the costumes and troupes weren't as visible, so I didn't take any more photos. The parade ended around 7:30 at night. We were in the plaza, and there were still lots of people strolling around and enjoying ice cream, frappes, or some fast food that was being sold there. We went home, we had a great time, it was fun! 💃🏻😁
