Saludos hivers. Hace unos días atrás compartí con ustedes una serie de fotos de hojas secas que he ido recopilando de mis visitas al parque. Hoy les traigo la segunda parte, es infinita la variedad de hojas que se pueden encontrar y ciertamente es una temática muy interesante para hacer fotos. Así que aquí vamos.

Hello hivers. A few days ago, I shared with you a series of photos of dried leaves that I've been collecting from my visits to the park. Today I'm bringing you the second part. The variety of leaves you can find is endless, and it's certainly a very interesting subject to photograph. So here we go.

En este parque hay una gran variedad de árboles y plantas, y este es uno de los motivos por los cuales ponerme a buscar hojas se convierte no solamente en una tarea muy fácil, sino también muy enriquecedora ya que el hecho de que en este ecosistema las especies vegetales sean tan diferentes entre sí hace que sus hojas también lo sean.

In this park there is a great variety of trees and plants, and this is one of the reasons why looking for leaves becomes not only a very easy task, but also very enriching, since the fact that the plant species in this ecosystem are so different from each other means that their leaves are also very different.

La mayoría de las personas piensan que las hojas secas no son mas que basura, una parte muerta que los árboles dejaron caer, y lo que hacen es recogerla y botarla junto al resto de los desechos, craso error 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️. Las hojas secas o en descomposición son un excelente elemento orgánico que puede ser utilizado en jardinería para mejorar la calidad y estructura del suelo, permitiéndole tener una mejor absorción del agua en época de lluvia y una mejor retención de la humedad en época de sequía. Así mismo, el colchón que van formando las hojas caídas en el suelo ayuda a reducir o minimizar el crecimiento de hierbas espontáneas.

Most people think that dry leaves are nothing more than garbage, a dead part that the trees left, and what they do is collect them and throw them away with the rest of the waste, a serious mistake 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️. Dry or decomposing leaves are an excellent organic element that can be used in gardening to improve the quality and structure of the soil, allowing it to have better water absorption during the rainy season and better moisture retention during the dry season. Likewise, the cushion that the fallen leaves form on the ground helps to reduce or minimize the growth of spontaneous weeds.

Aparte de regular la temperatura y la humedad, las hojas secas actúan como abono produciendo nutrientes que son esenciales para mejorar la calidad de los suelos, y también, pueden servir para proteger las raíces de las plantas en épocas de frío cuando son esparcidas alrededor de las mismas. Por otro lado, sirven de refugio para insectos y otros pequeños animales que viven o se alimentan en el suelo.

In addition to regulating temperature and humidity, dried leaves act as fertilizer, producing nutrients that are essential for improving soil quality. They can also protect plant roots during cold weather when scattered around the plant. They also provide shelter for insects and other small animals that live or feed in the soil.

En este recorrido encontré hojas enormes del tamaño de una bandeja, hojas de colores vivos a pesar de ya tener tiempo en el suelo, y también hojas hermosamente desgastadas, rotas y recortadas por los elementos o la misma naturaleza, debo decir que siento una especial atracción por estas últimas ya que me parecen muy fotogénicas 🍂🍁📸.

On this tour I found huge leaves the size of a tray, leaves with bright colors despite having been on the ground for some time, and also beautifully worn leaves, broken and cut by the elements or nature itself. I must say that I feel a special attraction to the latter since they seem very photogenic to me 🍂🍁📸.

Mi parte favorita de fotografiar hojas es que solamente necesito dos cosas para conseguir buenas tomas, caminar despacio con la cabeza agachada, y ser muy observadora. Hay hojas que simplemente las levanto y les tomo una foto, pero hay otras con las que no tengo que preparar nada ni tampoco tengo que crear las composiciones, todo está ya hecho por la naturaleza, hay hojas que caen en un lugar en particular y destacan entre el fondo, hay hojas que están dispuestas de una manera artística, hay hojas solitarias que han caído en el lugar preciso para hacer destacar su decadencia, en este trabajo fotográfico, yo solamente soy un espectador, no doy órdenes ni sugerencias a los protagonistas, simplemente estoy ahí para capturar las imágenes tal cual la naturaleza las ha dispuesto. ¿No les parece que eso es hermoso? 😌

My favorite part about photographing leaves is that I only need two things to get good shots: walk slowly with my head down, and be very observant. There are leaves that I simply pick up and take a photo of them, but there are others for which I don't have to prepare anything or create the compositions; everything is already done by nature. There are leaves that fall in a particular place and stand out from the background; there are leaves that are arranged in an artistic way; there are solitary leaves that have fallen in the precise place to highlight their decay. In this photographic work, I am only a spectator; I don't give orders or suggestions to the subjects; I am simply there to capture the images as nature has intended them. Don't you think that's beautiful? 😌
