My free Day well spent
It was my day off from work, so I decided to spend it with my family. They happened to leave across the city. I started my trip through the heart of the city to unwind, reflect, and enjoy the sights at the same time look out for new projects being developed within the city.I am usually busy with work from Monday to Saturday, I hardly have anytime to go out the day times when I ever I pass through in the evening, is either am too engaging in a conversation to see around or too tired from work that I would not stress myself on sight viewing. The morning was calm, and the weather was just right this weekend.I left home with the plan to make the best use of my limited time with my family ,my expectations were high .
My journey began at the city center, a bustling area known for its rich mix of architecture design, culture, religion and history pride. As I rode through the busy streets, it was less busy because it was during the weekend and most of the offices were closed for the weekend. I came across the majestic National Mosque, standing tall with its golden dome and elegant minarets structure. It has stood as a religious pride for the Muslim and a beautiful sight to behold for the visitors visiting the city center for the first time. Not far from it, I spotted the National Christian Centre, a masterpiece in its own right. The towering structure with its cross high above the roof represented the diversity and unity that my country is known for. Both buildings, standing not too far from each other , made me reflect on how beautiful coexistence can be.It was peaceful and a reminder of the country's deep spiritual roots.
Not too far from both the national mosque and the christ center across the road was the Central Bank of Nigeria, with its modern design and secure environment. I stood for a moment to admire the building, thinking about how this institution plays such a key role in managing the nation’s finances and monetary policy. Seeing it up close gave me a new appreciation for its influence and the importance of it in national development .
Feeling a little hungry and knowing I wanted to bring something home, I made my way to the famous Chicken Republic. It’s always a reliable spot when it comes to delicious meals. I ordered their well-known chicken pot, not just for myself but also for my mum and her grandson. It was their favorite. I knew they would appreciate the treat, and it made me feel good to share a little happiness with them. My mum will mostly reuse the meat to make additional meals with them.
. My mum’s smile was warm, and her grandson’s excitement lit up the room.he could not wait to be served his food with the meat I had.To my amazement, my mum had prepared egusi soup with semo for me,my favorite combination. The aroma filled the house, and after handing over the food I brought, I settled down to enjoy the delicious meal she had made with love. Every bite reminded me of childhood and home comforts.it was much sweeter and better than what I feed myself at home definitely.
The rest of the day was spent relaxing with family. We talked, laughed, and shared memories. My mum told stories from the past while her grandson played around happily, occasionally asking questions and giggling at her tales. I never forgot to go with my music box because it lit the house even more.
At the end of the day, it wasn’t just a free day,it was a refreshing journey through the city’s landmarks, seeing beautiful places, our religions architectural pride and symbols of our nation's unity, and most importantly, quality time with the people I love the most. Sometimes, it’s the simple moments like these that create the most lasting memories that are kept dear to our hearts..
