Time to answer
I recently wrote a post asking folks how they felt they've spent their time in 2025 and got some really great answers...long answers too mostly. The post is here if you want to read the questions and answers. One of the responders was curious about what my own answers might be and I bowed to the pressure he applied and here they are - There was actually no pressure at all, but thanks for asking @unitmaster, here you go.
Do you feel you've spent time well in 2025 - What do you define as well-spent time and why?
The first quarter of this year was not ideal, I felt like I was wasting time working for an organisation whose values, methods and mission was contrary to my own...so I spent time wisely and made a change into an organisation that has transformed the year and made me feel like the time I spend at work is spent well; this spills over(favourably) into my personal life as the previous situation was impacting negatively.
Time well spent, in my estimation, is time that enriches my life, matches my ethos, ethics, code and sense of honour and it's spent with the two most important people to me, (my girlfriend and Cleo, my cat). It also delivers enjoyment, life-engagement, happiness, mindfulness and meaningfulness.
Have you wasted time in 2025 and how has that affected your year and life? What changes can you make?
See above and other than that my time has been spent wisely.
Are you mindful of the passing of time (getting older) and do you live better each day because you know time won't come back around - and you'll die eventually?
I like knowing that my ultimate destination is death...and burning up on funeral pyre built upon a small wooden boat and lit by a flaming arrow fired from the shore before I finally ascend to Valhalla. Ok, maybe not all of that.
But knowing I'll die, (it could happen any time), is motivation to me and I embrace it. No, I don't dwell on it, the dying part; rather, I focus on the living part, on living well, with passion and vigor, within my code of honour and ethics, with ownership, discipline and a sense of responsibility. I work to end every single day thinking I found value, had meaningful thoughts and followed them up with attitudes and actions commensurate to that meaningfulness.
Have you taken the time to appreciate those around you who you love and value and if so how? If not why?
I absolutely do this every day. I wake and take a moment to be grateful I'm alive, that I have love and happiness in my life, and then rise having the intention to show the people I respect and value that I truly "see" them and appreciate what I see. I have a small friends group and repel people who are negative and bad influences which leaves me more free to truly appreciate those who are left.
How do you focus on squeezing the most productivity and value from your time and why?
I'm going to assume this question relates to my professional life, not personal.
I use to-do lists, set goals around the SMART concept: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time based. I evaluate my work days at three hour intervals which means if I happen to be wasting time it's only for a maximum three hour period; the evaluation discovers the wastage and I re-set for the next push. Waiting all day to evaluate the day means it's not changeable. I plan things out, perform the big or unpleasant things first ("move the big rocks"), have focus time for things I need to do, turn my phone on silent...I'm an expert delegator, have always built a team around me I've trained to think autonomously but with the ultimate goal or mission in mind, I've empowered them...in my professional life there's many things that help me stay productive and I could write multiple posts about the subject.
How do other people and life's complexities steal time away from you and how do you combat that?
People love wasting time. They scroll on their phones, watch the news services, bitch, gossip and moan about others, worry about things they can't control, get involved when they have no business getting involved. They think and talk about stupid things like which wine is the best or how drunk they're going to get on the weekend, or being vegan or why others should conform to their way of thinking. They talk about politics or the result of an earthquake that occurred in a country they didn't even know existed, or what that cunt Kim Kardashian is wearing. They waste time gaming or talking about gaming...people waste time in many ways...I don't do any of that shit.
So, when people try to engage with me about stuff like that I shut it down. I disconnect (usually politely) and just move on. I have a small friends group for this reason, we're all on the same, or similar, page which means I'm less likely to get involved in time-stealer's nutbaggery.
As for life's complexities? It's a little more challenging to tune-out because some of them are vitally important so I guess I just deal with them with the mindset of seeking solutions and resolutions without building up stress; being results-focused helps there.
Anyway, that's it I guess, just a few responses to what really is a large topic and one I could talk on for a while.
It all boils down to me valuing my time because I know it's not endless and consistently applying strategies and concepts that help me save time and gain the most I can from what life (time) I have remaining.

You're steemy and flowy, in a good way. Thanks @steemflow once again.
U reminded me of chalice 🙃😉
Work is a big part of our life, if you don't like it, if it makes feel you bad, that's gonna impact a lot on you, so changing was a good choice... I'm also with you on time waste talking on garbage gossip and such, I bloody hate that, like why should I even care
So many people talk so much garbage but, of course, they probably think it's legit dialogue. I can't be bothered even pretending to be interested, I just make an excuse and I'm out of there.
It's incredible how people like to waste their time on nonsense or distractions created especially for that purpose, such as news, celebrity gossip, rumours... It's something I can't stand. My two best friends are like me; we talk about what's important and what enriches our lives, but there are always those who bring up such stupid things. I immediately change the subject, because I'm really not interested and much of it is lies.
You know how to make the most of your time, you've developed techniques for doing so and you improve them every day, which is valuable. I hope you're having a great Sunday!
Yep, I have a few strategies that work for me and are really not difficult at all to deploy.
Sunday is almost over, work tomorrow. I've been packing for a work trip in the last hour or so, I pack early and have a checklist; I don't like forgetting things.
When I had to travel, I did the same thing, and I carried the list on paper and checked it several times. Have a good trip tomorrow.
Good Stuff Bro.
I enjoyed the reflection of this one. It gave me a chance to reflect on how my time has been spent.
Spending less time on the road is always my goal. And like You. Making the most of it when it happens.
Thanks mate. How did that possible prime mover deal go? The orange one?
I did not like the way it sounded. Rough idle. It had that slight chugging sound. Possible injector issue. If not for that I may have pushed for financing. It was a super clean well kept truck for nearly ten years old.
Injectors...costly things.
If it doe4sn't feel right it probably isn't, is what I hold to.
Stopped to L👀ked at a few more today. I will know the right truck when I find it.
Give Optimus Prime a call, one always needs a Transformer.

Thanks for the tag and I'm glad you made an entire post with your answers.
This was a lot to take in but one of my favorite posts of yours. Read it over the weekend and again today.
On a future post, could you elborate more on your process and tools for setting SMART goals and your three-hour interval evaluations? Like, how do you decide which goals to set, do you use any special software or analog journal for it, etc.
I used to be good and consistent with setting SMART goals. The best tool for me was the Darren Hardy "Living Your Best Year Ever" planner. Sadly, I've drifted away from that and need to get back to goal setting like I did before.
No worries, I wasn't going to do a post on it to be honest but after you'd mentioned it I thought about it some more and decided there would be no harm in it.
Let me think about it some more and see if I can work my goal setting and three hour interval assessment into the same post and one that offers some value.
Really interesting to see you answering your own questions for a change. Reading your stuff for months no, there are no surprises in there, which makes me thing - do you sometimes get the feeling that you know already what your regular commentators and participants will write? I do sometimes feel like I'm repeating myself, in different words with similar meanings. And I do see the patterns in other people's posts & comments, too.
Yeah, I see some repetitiveness in comments but I suppose people can only be who they are and if that's who they are, their posting and commenting than it's fair play right?
Yes, absolutely, pretending to be someone else to keep the comments interesting isn't going to work, either 😅 It's more of something I noticed about myself. The other day I was reading a post of Taraz', and wanted to comment. But then I realized that I had made that point under his post at least once before, so instead I read through the post again to see if I had something to add that I hadn't commented in the same or similar way before. And that's only after 6 months. Can't imagine after 8 years...
