Shit sunset

.. (2).JPG

It's somewhat of a tradition for me to hit the beach on Australia Day, not in the heat of the day because that's bonkers, but later in the evening when it's a little cooler and the sun is starting to dip, and yesterday was no exception. We headed to the beach which is very close to where we live and wandered around until only a thin strip of orange stained the horizon.

It was 37°C yesterday, January 26th which is the day on which the country celebrates Australia Day which marks the landing of the First Fleet in 1788 which is when the country as we know it began to take shape. Hot is a typical temperature for this time of year in Australia (although it gets hotter yet) so I waited until around 19:30 to head to the beach when it was only around 32°C. There were loads of others there, quite usual for Australia Day and it was a nice vibe with loads of families and couples enjoying the weather and the location.

I snapped a few photos as I walked along and figured I'd share a few here; they're pretty shit but I'm ok with it and I don't give a shit what other people think of them so it's all good.

Today is a public holiday for Australia Day, that's right, because Australia Day fell on Sunday the public holiday is held on the Monday to make it a long weekend...no complaints there. It's going to be hot today too, it's around 08:30 in the morning and already 34°C but that's not going to stop me from enjoying the first public holiday of the year; I've always found it's best to get the best out of every day as one never knows if it's the last we'll have.

Hi @galenkp, there are very nice pictures in the publication. I really like the third one. Hope you enjoy this day off, Australia Day.

Regards.

Thanks, it was a really good day and nice to have a few photos that demonstrate how sunsets look down this way.

It sounds very similar to 4th of July in the US. The beaches are usually packed that weekend. Especially where I live since we have so many large bodies of water near us. You should see about getting a refund for your camera. The quality of these shots is abysmal! :)

Yep, very similar to the 4th of July for sure and I reckon you folks and us celebrate in much the same way. As for the camera...I threw it in the ocean last night before I even saw the photos knowing Rhys be shit. Lol.

Happy Australia Day (it's still the 26th here). Those are really pretty sunset photos. My favorite is the pier with all the people silhouetted against the sunset.

Thanks, it was a nice day, and thanks also for your nice comments on my snaps. It doesn't really do justice to the reality of it but I appreciate your favourable comments. I'll share a few more down the track.

Happy Aussie day! Man those sunset pictures are soooo terrible. Can I buy one for like 50$? I dislike them much!

I love going to the beach in the evening to get some photos of the sunset like that! The golden hour is for sure a great time of the day to do it. One of these days I’ll go to florida and catch the sunrise on one side and drive over and catch the sunset lol that would be cool.

Thanks mate, a good day was had by all 26 million of us.

I'm really fortunate to have beaches very close to home that face west as sunsets like this are possible. I took a few more (97 of them actually) so will do a post down the track and share some more over time. They're not for sale...too shit for commercial use. 😊

Warmer over there than it is here, was only 31C yesterday and today it's 32. Almost beach weather but we didn't end up going mostly befcause we didn't think about it at the time (and my sleeping is messed up again).

You have some brilliant examples of sunset orange there :)

The problem with beaches (for me) is sand...it gets everywhere...but I suck it up and risk sand ingress because there's nothing quite like a walk on the beach at sunset.

We have some cooler weather on the way from tomorrow but it'll be into the 40's next weekend. 😭

Must be drifting across from us that way then, as we had the higher temperatures last week and we're heading into high 30s-40ish mid week x_x Are you able to hide from the heat?

Yeah, we get your weather mostly unless fronts push up from the south pole (gets cold) or down from inland Australia (gets hotter) so I reckon you'll have to deal with the heat before sending it my way. It's a mixed bag for me on whether I can avoid it...depends what I do. I was going to the range next Saturday but might stay home and hide inside with the AC instead.

You don't have indoor ranges? Or just too hot to want to drive there even with aircon in the car and potential aircon on the other end?

Is it ever under 30°C in a day cycle in Australia right now xD? 30°C is like the hottest that in can get here in Estonia in the mid-summer. I would melt alive if it was 34°C at 8:30 in the morning and I had to drink hot coffee also.

Your photos are nice, they are high quality and you capture the horizon pretty well.

We get colder weather, it snows here in places, we have ski seasons and all. This weekend it's going to be hot in my part of Australia, over 40C...I don't like it but have to deal with it.

Thanks for your nice comments on my photos.

A little late, but Happy Australia Day!🇦🇺😁

Living near the sea, by the beach, is a gift from life. The photos, as always, are top-notch; my favorite is the one of the sunset with the sun and those orange colors—such a beautiful image!

The day the "Beach Hit Back..."

Do not know why but your walking on the beach triggered a childhood memory. Or PTSD flashback. One and the same many times for me.

I do have a scar on my left foot from stepping on a broken beer bottle while running and catching a frisbee.

These pictures are in no way shit. Beaches and that too in the evening are absolutely picturesque, regardless of one's photography skills.

And wow, 34 C in the month of January sounds like hell! And I thought my place at 26 degrees is hot.

It's all in the eye of the beholder I guess, some would call these photos shit and want to provide unsolicited advice on photography, others say they're not shit. Either way, I enjoyed the moment in which they were taken and that's what matters.
