Hell boots and other ones

I love boots and most days, at work or in my personal life, I'm wearing them.

I have a few pairs of R.M. Williams "craftsman" boots in different colours and I also wear taller boots, usually by Ariat; there's times I can't wear them though, like when I'm running and in bed, or swimming across the English Channel but the vast majority of the time I have on boots.

A while back I had to retire a pair I loved dearly; they'd served me well, trusty companions that offered a buffer between my feet and the ground, but I threw them out because they were pretty-much dead. I was sad but managed to go on with life - my boots would have wanted that.

I thought about new boots but felt my old boots were looking up at me from hell (they went there when they died because they were fucken bad-ass) saying, "so you fucken forgot me and moved on already huh?"

Ok, not really, I don't think they thought anything at all...So, I was contemplating new boots but couldn't get to where I buy them from until just recently.

I managed to buy my new boots (the old dead-and-now-in-hell boots will just have to deal with it) and you can see them in this post. They're not quite as comfortable as my old dead ones yet, but they will get there eventually. I understand that others may not like them, or boots in general, and that's ok...I mean, they're my fucken boots not theirs, so fuck it right?

I still miss my hell-boots but they served me well and we had some good times together and all things must die and go to hell (if it actually existed), even you and me, although I'm off to Valhalla so yeah, there's that.

Shoes are generally a necessity for most; they are a utilitarian and useful item, but shoes have become works of art, fashion and style statements, must-have status symbols and sometimes things that people pay lots of money for as well. We all have different tastes and preferences like sneakers, high heels or flat, boots, open or closed toe and just about every other thing a person could imagine...me, I like and prefer boots I guess. What about you though?

What's your preference for footwear and why? If you have an opinion and want to share it, and maybe even a photo, go ahead in the comments below.

Except this guy...

He did not need boots to kick ass

That's true, no shirt either.

Would have been cooler with boots on though.

Question..:

Do you ever go barefoot like maybe in your garden. Feel the grass tickle between your toes?

I like to walk on the sun deck and in the house barefoot. But outside here is a risky proposition with the fire ants.

Yeah, all the time, it's called grounding. Feels good. At home I'm mostly shoeless, barefoot or maybe some sport socks on. Outside mostly an old pair of 5.11 boots if I'm working in the yard/garden.

I've been mostly wearing either my Red Wing Iron Rangers, or my African Rangers from Jim Green in South Africa. I like serious boots and shoes I can confidently wear in the woods, and I don't associate with people who worry about fashion. Good boots are worth the break-in period.

Yeah, my duty boots are 5.11 usually although I've had some different brands over the years. I've heard of and seen those Red Wing boots and they look pretty good although I've never had a pair for some reason.

That reason could certainly be because you're on the wrong continent. I've heard of R. M. Williams, good boots supposedly, but it makes no sense to import them. I'm frankly astonished the South African boots are feasible here.

Never thought about shoes having that much personality, but now I kinda get it. Maybe one day I’ll find my own 'hell-boots' to love and lose too 😅 Your new pair looks tough though—like they’re ready for adventures.

Boot lives matter...I hope you find some boots to love and when they die they go to hell also, they can keep my boots company!

Converse team forever! 💪 I bought my first pair when I was 12, and that was it for me. They are comfortable, and I love them! 💪

I had a pair of Converse back in the day, probably before you were born, and they were cool. I'm not the sneaker-wearing guy these days unless I'm running though these days.

Also, bloody sand, that shit gets everywhere!

cool boots. At home I normally walk barefoot. When I go somewhere outside I use this piar of sneakers:

Or now when it is hot outside I go with these:

I've got those, sketchers, one pair for winter and one for summer, I always used "tennis shoes" or whatever they are called... At school you had to have those but Nike or you would get discriminated... Never had boots but no one does, I guess it's culture

Isn't it odd how people will pick on others because they have the :wrong brand" of shoes. Humans are such idiots.

Yea expecially as kids, if you are adult, you just say fuck off, but as a kid, the whole class discriminating you it's tough, you suffer

Yeah, I was discriminated against as a kid (it seemed everyone thought I was the wrong colour so felt inclined to victimise me) so I understand what you're saying. I turned out ok though, and am still the same colour.

I don't know how are kids nowadays, I hear now it's even worse... here I remember one was discriminated because he was from South and we are in the north, not even different color, so imagine...

The boots of hell will come for you and you will regret having killed them... they will come when you least expect it and they will take revenge, you have made an unforgivable boot sacrifice... take care!

On a serious note... your boots are great. I love boots too although not that style, I like them better than trainers and I have several boots. In summer clogs that don't have the back strap are comfortable to walk in. And I love being barefoot, but only at home.

Nah, those fuckers are dead and gone, they saw a lot of use and looked like it at the end when they finally passed over to the other side. I'd not be surprised if the fucken devil has them on though, I've heard he has good taste.

So, you like my boots but you don't like that style of boots? I'm discombobulated.

I thought your old boots wanted you to get on with your life and that does include getting new boots, which is it XD

Those are some pretty awesome boots, would totally wear them if i I could pull off boots (I can't and also don't actually like wearing footwear and basically it's done out of necessity because the other option around here is the one time you don't see the broken glass and also in winter I have no cold tolerance).

They didn't want to go to hell, but I consigned them to that fate, and they screamed all the way down as the hounds if hell dragged them there. Or maybe they just ended up in the wheelie bin.

like when I'm running and in bed

When I first read this line I thought it said like when I'm running in bed lol. I thought, yep....Bonkers is the right name for that man lol.

The time right before the boots become bonafide hell boots is the best. They're like lovers for your feet! Your feet rebel when they get shoved into some other footwear and they sigh with relief when they get slipped into those old, broken in boots. The only thing more comfortable is bare feet, my preference <3

I run to bed because sleeping is awesome, not run in bed, I don't reckon I'd be popular if I did the latter...or wore my boots in bed either.

I don't mind barefoot but it's not suitable for all occasions I suppose. I don't wear shoes inside my house so often barefoot or maybe sport socks depending on the temperature. Boots are legit though, I'm happy to be a boot guy and not want to wear sneakers all the time like has become popular with most. Not my thing.

Running to bed is a thing around here as well...when the day is done and the work is done and there is nothing left to do but relax, well...that just puts me right in the mood to sleep lol.

Lots of different footwear for different purposes, but nothing beats a good pair of boots. We used to have a friend that rode his Harley with short pants and cowboy boots lol...he was so damned big that no one messed with him.

I'm getting some of those day is done vibes right now because my day just bloody started and it's Monday morning. I went for a run early though, so feel energised...I just wish it was Friday afternoon already.

Short pants and cowboy boots...one must be a big-don't-mess-with-me sort of chap to pull that off.

Oh damn, sorry to hear that but on the bright side....forget it, there is no bright side to that Monday morning bullshit.

Yep, that dude was the biggest of the bunch...voice as big as he was, infectious laughter, and a heart of gold...good people.

I'd probably have to go with tennis shoes. I've never really owned a nice pair of boots because they are so expensive. I don't even have a proper pair of winter boots. I might have to fix that one day.

No winter boots? It snows there right? How do your sneakers handle it?

0

Not proper ones. I have boots for snow blowing, but they were cheap ones I got from like Wal-Mart and they don't zip up right anymore. I'd like to get some nice boots from LL Bean or something like that one day. My work boots are pretty cheap too, but I can't justify paying $300 for boots when I am in an office all day.

Oh yeah man, I've seen them and think they're great boots. I'm not into the flashy ones (ok I like those but wouldn't buy them) preferring the less glamorous ones. They look like great boots indeed and I'd be lying if I said I didn't want some. One of my goals is to buy a pair of boots in Texas, just for the novelty of it. I'm not sure if I can afford these ones though.
