Web 3: Crypto and AI?
Web 2 is known as the generation of Web that mainly starts with the revolution traditional social media platforms brought to the internet.
For a long enough time, people from the crypto sphere have called themselves Web 3, to represent the next generation of Web, and sometimes as a reaction to the bad practices that are widespread in Web 2:
- control
- censorship
- manipulation
- the user doesn't have any power over their data, interactions, and account, other than what the platforms allow them; they don't own anything, the platforms do
It's interesting that, despite Web 3 having elements of censorship resistance (Hive), and users can own their assets and accounts, all above issues above can and are still present in Web 3, if we consider the entire crypto sphere as Web 3 (which is more than inclusive). The issues often appear due to a lack of understanding, caring, or interest in mitigating these issues. Or even not acknowledging they are problems, and re-introducing them when they weren't possible initially.
Web 2 was about social media, as a force that grew the internet to new heights. We should be realistic, Web 3 will have a social component to it, we won't stop being social all of a sudden, but it will be much more than that. The financial component seems logical after we look at the relatively successful combination of the two on Hive. And I'm sure many chains would like to think of Web 3 just through the prism of financial transactions and asset creation/distribution/owning, which can be limiting.
Like AI or not, we cannot deny that it will play an extensive role in Web 3. It's already playing some critical roles in Web 2.
Regarding AIs, some people viscerally hate them already. I am not one of them. What I do worry about though is that we are too profit-oriented, in a hurry (and thus careless), or even ill-intended to stop when things go wrong or slow down long enough to see the effects on humanity and analyze them long-term. Plus, how the AGI will see humanity. Will it be like we see chimpanzees? Or more like cockroaches? From the difference in intelligence, we will be more like the latter, at some point.
Anyway, thinking at the rate of growth AI currently has, it will be hard to keep up in the Web 3 "race" (not a race, in my opinion, more like synergy of domains). But probably we will say Web 3 is AI and Crypto in at most a few years.
Interesting illusion, I guess we will see plenty of them with AI generating them.
And that's before the "internet of things" will be ready, and your fridge's AI will talk with your car's AI, to tell it to stop by the drive-through mini-market, because you are out of milk. It also talks to the teller at the drive-through to place the order (also an AI), which talks to a small robot that brings the milk up front. Finally, your fridge talks to your wallet, to pay for the milk. Or at least that's one of the advertisements. Cool or creepy? Where in the equation are you? We assume you drank the milk. Did you? 😀
Hmm, why did I say milk? Couldn't have I said tomatoes? What would Seth Godin do if cows were boycotted (already are in various places) for pollution reasons? I'm sure purple cows perfectly recycle gas exhausts. Even more, they produce ozone. Do I need to say I am joking, and maybe am a bit sarcastic over here?

Sometimes AI can be used for bad things on Web2 like the Saylor scam prevailing on YouTube. Crazy what some people are using AI for now. We can no longer trust , we must verify.
Ah, for sure. Deep fakes are the new trend. People need to get used to that.

I think the biggest reason why people are against AI, is how disruptive it is right now, and is costing a lot of people jobs. For regular consumers, it is widely accepted, and has been helpful in a lot of ways. Like a lot of new things, I feel like it will just take a little time before people accept it as a whole. A lot of people are so averse to change.
I think it's a lot of "scare what you don't understand" reaction too. AIs have been personified too much, and, until AGI makes an AI aware of itself and its enormous capabilities (probably) they are simply tools in humans' hands. After that, remains to be seen.
Both Web3 and artificial intelligence with the way things are going can't be separated. They need each other
I tend to believe that too.
In a way, it sounds cool to me but it can also go too far and become creepy. I think we humans will end up misusing AI even before AI becomes sort of self conscious and sort of realise what's going on. The synergy between crypto and AI will be interesting, as we could create better systems that are more efficient and inclusive.
Yep, the first temptation is to say it's cool. It simply removes some of the routine activities from our busy lives. But it will be interesting to see how busy our lives will be in the future, and doing what.
That's already happening with deep fakes. The question is, if AIs are trained to refuse to execute certain commands that appear to lead to illegal or immoral actions, and humans find ways to bypass the failsafe, how would a future AGI think about these practices? And would it be tempted to do the same?
I think yes, the future AGI will basically do the same unless its programmer(s) find a way to prevent that from happening, which I doubt will even work if the AGI self develops itself. In the future, it will definitely be hard if not almost impossible to differentiate fact from fiction.
It's just peek trending AI nothing all. Somehow a good work but it's spoon feeding type
It depends on what the purpose of the AI is for. In the localizer drama going on, nobody is really complaining about AI taking the place of the localizers because they have been doing a horrible job.
I'm not sure I know what this is about, but if this is about AI subtitling movies in a different language, I've seen a few really bad examples, not to mention the subtitle is always a second too late or something like that. But no doubt those will improve over time. All they need is volumes to train on.
Maybe I'll write a post about it later. The drama has been unfolding for a few weeks and it's kind of dying down a bit. Honestly, someone used AI to fix the bad localizations and I can say that it wasn't that bad.
web2 era is about to end, web3 is gonna rock.
In the same way, we are seeing that artificial intelligence is also becoming very popular in the world and the coming time is web 3, so we have to know many special things about both of them.
Actually Sometimes I tend to be afraid of how the artificial intelligence will affect Web3 will affect us
The best cure to being afraid of AI is to understand it, and learn how to use it.
