Two Ways to Evolve from Parasite to Contributor

avatar

People are lazy by default. It is probably a protection mechanism from ancient times, to conserve energy and only use it for the important tasks, to last between two meals, when they got lucky hunting.

Nowadays, we generally do things because they are routine, because we have to or because we enjoy them.

Routine never helps us evolve, other than maybe in efficiency. That leaves the other two: evolving, changing, because you have to or because you enjoy it.

Of course, the change can be both ways: from parasite to contributor or even change makers, or vice versa.

But I'm thinking more in terms of the positive transition here.

The best way to evolve is when you enjoy it. When you have a vision, if the word isn't too big for most people, and work toward it and enjoy seeking ways to progress toward seeing it achieved.

The other way is because you have to. Throw a human being into various challenges and you'll see and they'll see what they are made of. What they are capable of achieving in a short while if they have no choice (or bad alternatives).

Our capacity of adaptation to changing conditions is amazing. I sort of experienced it myself in recent weeks as I had a crash course in home cooking - could be useful too in the future. But most people only react to extreme stimuli to change or as a heard mentality because everyone around does it. Otherwise, we prefer the coziness of the routine. The lazy way because... it conserves energy.

Enjoy your Saturday!

I feel we also do things because of what we can benefit from it.
Also, life is full of challenges and as human beings, we are able to adapt to a lot of things and that’s what makes us human

Indeed! Adapting to changes is part of what makes us humans.

The best way to achieve what we have envisioned is working towards it
I’m working towards building my Hive power because I hope to become a whale someday

At the beginning of my journey I would have said that was impossible. But experience (of mine and others) showed that it may eventually be possible given enough time, dedication, and contributions to Hive.

I think that everything evolves our the mindset and the ability to concentrate. For example while few days ago I had bigger energy I've started posting two days in a row, but today is like I am brain dead. Not sure if this is lack of motivation, laziness, or something else...

These fluctuations can be normal sometimes. But with proper motivation, most of us can tap into unbelievable sources of energy, at least for a while, like a temporary boost.

Speaking of energy, as I'm getting older, I pay attention more and more to it... Especially, WHERE I spend my energy, and on WHOM... I made a lot of mistakes spending a lot of energy on some people (and things), which were those "energy vampires", and that made me more cautious... Maybe also lazy, but more cautious where I spend it...

So lately, trying to recognize who are the parasites, helps me in investing my energy smarter, and in people who are worth it, and who add value to my life too...

Yes, I am also affected by "energy vampires" and try to avoid them when I discover they feed on your energy. Sometimes they don't know they have such an effect on other people.

Adapting when needed shows our strength, but doing what we love helps us grow the most. A little off topic though brother but what exactly is diggndeeper.com I see it in curation trails of some of my friends and always confused

I can tell that I talked to the guy once on my blog. He - at least I think it's a guy - had some questions about Hive and I think I clarified things for him. After a while I noticed the votes coming in. And I noticed he votes on many others, often not top rewarded authors. I have no idea how he chooses who he votes for, but he obviously pays attention, because I've seen new names added to his list since I started receiving his votes.

Oh wow that's a blessing, well I actually thought it was another project I didn't know on Hive

No, not a project or at least it didn't seem so.

It's just how humans are. I think it matches a lot of us and the people we know. People don't really change unless they have a goal or if they are forced too. I don't see that changing much in the future as we become more reliant on technology.

Yes, it was only a remark, not that we are likely to improve on that. As you said, it's maybe probable the other way around to become lazier as we rely on more tech and now, AI.

I guess the reality of life is why people choose to conserve energy. Most of the time I like to do so because of my health challenges, and maybe if it weren't so I wouldn't have.

It's true, health issues kind of affect energy levels by default.

Genetically we are lazy, just like all creatures. Why work hard unless you really have to?

Good for you on jumping into home cooking! It's a lot of fun once you get started. It's also cheaper than eating out which is a plus!

I'm always looking for new ways to build and grow. Hive has so much to offer, and I like how you do a nice weekly review of your perceived highlights. Keep it up!

You can, if you have a grander vision that inspires and drives you. Look at Elon Musk. Do you think he needs to work as much as he does? He does it because he has a grand plan and realizes time passes and he might not achieve what he wants within his lifetime.

Yep, Hive offers many choices to pick from. Thanks for the encouragement!
