That's one good reason why I don't make a TikTok account, despite being so popular. I went even further and convinced my parents not to have one, even though they wanted to have one, because there's a big fuss in our country about TikTok and they were curious, and also... many people we know started having accounts there.

I have a tiktok account but the only main reasons are because I follow a few people that share contents about my condition, second reason is because I actually opened the account to do some social tasks.. that I was paid for, way back.
Unfortunately this means I now have to put up with the dark side of it. Of course I can always choose not to look at it.
I think you made a reasonable choice, it's a very dark place most of the times and people can do unreasonable things there.
What was the issue you had with your country?
The most recent example was a young man who was dying (and died) from overdose while his supplier livestreamed it on TikTok and made fun of him. Made quite an impression these days.
His supplier? Goodness me! What is the world turning into? Isn't this suppose to be a punishable offence?
He got arrested... But we'll see if that goes anywhere...
