How Much Was My Hive Portfolio Worth Last Year?...
Wouldn't it be nice if we had a tool that can easily answer that? One that shows a dashboard with charts with the evolution, overall and per asset, preferably.
I really like @keychain's portfolio view, even if it's only a snapshot and not showing the evolution in time of the valuation of the assets. And you can't pick what tokens to be on the portfolio view, as far as I know.
With the question in the title in mind, I started developing my own tool. No charts, no evolution... yet. Sorry!
But you can choose what Hive Engine tokens to have a snapshot of and you can save the output to a file (by redirecting it).
I just ran it with the default settings ,which are my account and this list of tokens: SWAP.HIVE, SPS, DEC, LEO and this is how the output looks like:
Not very pretty yet, but useful, in my opinion.
If one would run this, say, quarterly, for their account(s) and the list of HE tokens of choice, this could be quite a helper.
I won't get into where to find and how to use the script, it's is explained at large here.
But it could be only the beginning for this tool... I only included HE tokens, because their value is difficult to track over time (in my opinion), but my next priority is to look into diesel pools and if I can add them, then HIVE and HBD in their various forms, and then maybe look if it's worth extending/rewriting it to take regular snapshots and make some charts.
For a change, snapshots are account-centric (useful for a dashboard, knowing how the value of your holdings changed in time) and not token-centric (useful for an airdrop, paying dividends, etc.).
Please share your thoughts, ideas, etc. Not sure if or when I'll be able to include, but I'll take them into account.
Using various AI models to help out.
It would be a good tool indeed
Basically... I'm building it for myself. If anyone else finds it useful, awesome! That's why I share it.
I think many will find it useful simply because it's a way to track their financial progress across quarters or (even a year) in a more detailed way. Besides, having such data could also help in making better informed decisions on the state of one's progress, where to pivot, etc.
Exactly. The fact HE tokens have a price only in HIVE makes it even more complicated to keep a track of the "value" of your HE portfolio. This little script I believe gives the tool to make it easier to track prices over time, in different ways.

It could be good if someone is interested in checking how his tokens are going, when there was a peakd and similar... It's good for example for staked tokens as hive engine only shows value of liquids
You can get the value of total (liquid+staked) tokens from Beeswap. Also for the entire account (at the top of their wallet page).
TribalDex shows the USD total for each token too.
Oh I never used beeswap or tribaldex I didn't know
You should try either. I use mostly beeswap, but used tribaldex in the past. Compared to Hive Engine, they both have diesel pools. They both have more information you can use (especially beeswap). On tribaldex, the most useful information you can't find on beeswap is the fees collected on diesel pools over different time frames. For project owners, tribaldex has some other tools too.
Is it better to do the swap on pools rather than markets on hive engine? I just mostly sell minor tokens
It depends. You can always check. Sometimes it's better to sell on the market, other times in the pool.
Often I sell or buy from the pool (where they exist) if it's small a value, for the convenience compared to the token market.
Thank you for mentioning us. We will take this into account for a future update of the portfolio view.
Awesome! I'd love to see Portfolio view made even more powerful than it already is. By the way, I'm using it monthly, so... great tool! 😀
That is really good to know. Don't hesitate to request any feature, either here or in our Discord.
I think the lowest hanging fruits would be to be able to track custom tokens in the Portfolio view, besides the top ones being included by default. Sure, maybe there should be a limitation like a certain daily volume - although some HE tokens are not liquid every day but may be liquid weekly, but I don't think there's an easy way to track the liquidity of a token over a period longer than 24h on Hive-Engine (I tried to have the 7D volume and that apparently isn't available).
Noted.
Interesting 🤔. The ability to choose which tokens to monitor and save the output is already a huge step up. Looking forward to seeing charts and evolution tracking added later
I wouldn't call it a huge step, but it's a step ahead, that's true. We probably need this kind of customization and a higher level of portfolio tracking over time.
When the pump came in November, my portfolio was quite high, but then I made a mistake. I didn't sell. Now the prices have come down a lot and there is a lot of worry.
Yeah, I made the same mistake. Or rather, I sold some and reinvested lower thinking I was smart. Turns out I wasn't, lol.
I think its a nice tool to have. Having a monthly or quarterly checkup on how well things are doing is always nice. Maybe an option for people to set how long they want that update.
For now... it's manual. You'd have to run the script when you want the snapshot taken. But I don't see major complications having it run regularly automatically.

Thanks for sharing!
To be honest when it comes to tracking the value of my HE tokens, most times I just take a mental snapshot of what their collective previous values, and use it to compare the next time I check. Obviously it's not a solid method, but I think I saw you've got a reply from peakD, let's see how they hope to integrate it on their end.
