Hola amantes del cine y la televisión en hive, vuelvo con una review a una serie que me cautivo desde el momento uno de empezarla, un tanto diferente a las series a las que estoy acostumbrada a ver que son más de genero fantasía, aventura o misterio pero que sin embargo no pierde estos elementos al integrarlos a los propios siendo de terror, suspenso y drama. Un k-drama que definitivamente merece un montón de reconocimiento y a pesar de no ser de las series que normalmente veo me hizo entrar en el mundo de los k-dramas de nuevo por lo mucho que me gustó. Este drama es muy diferente a todo lo que haya visto antes, con una combinación entre el terror psicológico y el misterio policial entramos en un mundo en donde quizas el infierno pueda estar en la tierra y este se manifiesta a través de las personas. Hello movie and TV lovers in hive, I'm back with a review of a series that captivated me from the moment I started it, a bit different from the series I'm used to see that are more of fantasy, adventure or mystery genre but nevertheless does not lose these elements by integrating them to their own being horror, suspense and drama. A k-drama that definitely deserves a lot of recognition and despite not being one of the series I normally watch it made me enter the world of k-dramas again because of how much I liked it. This drama is very different from anything I've seen before, with a combination of psychological horror and police mystery we enter a world where maybe hell can be on earth and it manifests itself through people. Hablando un poco sobre el cast de la serie contamos con un reparto lleno de mucho talento, como los protagonistas de el mismo quienes son el actor Im Si-wan y el actor Lee Dong-wook quienes han destacado en k-dramas como Goblin y Squid Games (temporada 2). Ambos actores nos presentan unos personajes completamente complejos con diferentes realidades de la vida y quienes se alguna forma están unidos por un mal que ambos ignoran. Algunos de los otros actores y actrices que salen en la serie son Cha Rae-hyung, Kim Han-jong, Oh Hye-won, Park Ji-han, Lee Jung-eun, Lee Hyun-wook, Park Jong-hwan, Lee Joong-ok y Hyun Bong-sik, todos ellos representan personajes claves para el desarrollo de la retorcida historia y para el cambio de nuestro personaje principal siendo partícipes de su declive.

Una serie surcoreana que nos ilustra la mirada de la vida real, una vida pesada y difícil en la cual es complicado el continuar tanto por la sociedad como por el trabajo y la economía. A través de esta serie podemos ver qué si solo ponemos mayor atención a los pequeños detalles podemos descubrir cosas macabras que se mantienen ocultas en las calles mas comunes y que quizás es mejor evitar.

Both actors present us with completely complex characters with different realities of life and who are somehow united by an evil they both ignore. A South Korean series that illustrates the look of real life, a heavy and difficult life in which it is complicated to continue both by society and by the work and economy. Through this series we can see that if we just pay more attention to the small details we can discover macabre things that are kept hidden in the most common streets and that perhaps it is better to avoid.

Esta serie de televisión surcoreana de género drama, terror psicológico y thriller, está basada en el comic publicado en la plataforma Naver Webtoon el cual lleva el mismo nombre, fue transmitida en el 2019 y cuenta con 1 temporada y un total de 10 episodios los cuales cuentan con una duración de 56 a 60 minutos, dicha serie se encuentra subtitulada al español.

La trama se centra en la vida de Yoon Jong-woo un joven escritor quien debe mudarse a Seul con la promesa de que un compañero de universidad le dará un trabajo, en su viaje debe conseguir una residencia donde vivir mientras ahorra algo de dinero para poder conseguir un lugar propio y en su búsqueda consigue un cuarto en la residencia Edén. A pesar de que la residencia le parece de lo más desagradable es su única opción por su corto presupuesto y aunque al principio todo parezca normal comenzará a notar los extraños comportamientos de los residentes. Jong-woo comienza a experimentar diferentes cambios en su personalidad por la dura recibida que le brinda la gente de Seul y comienza a cuestionar su estabilidad mental en el proceso. Sin embargo, quizás no esté del todo mal porque lo que se esconde en las paredes de la residencia Edén es más grande de lo que imaginaría.

Una fuente importante por donde descubro series, y por la cual descubrí ésta, fue a través de TikTok en donde me aparecen video edits realizados por fans. El haber visto uno de estos edits fue que nació mi curiosidad por la serie y al conocer a los actores principales me llamó aún más la atención y luego de hacer una pequeña investigación sobre la misma tome la decisión de verla. Hace muchos años cuando veía constantemente k-dramas con mi hermana siempre eran de genero romance y drama, nunca me había atrevido a ver un k-drama de genero terror psicológico porque siempre me daba un poco de miedo la forma en la que los asiáticos presentan el terror visual, la forma en la que graban las escenas y todos los elementos que hacen que se vean aún más terroríficas. Sin embargo, después de que hace poco volví al mundo de los k-dramas decidí darle una oportunidad no solo por su interesante trama sino porque de alguna forma me recordaba a la serie Hannibal de NBC.

Al darle un vistazo a los primeros episodios inmediatamente me enganchó y al mismo tiempo sentí mucho miedo y ansiedad, la serie es entretenida y no se siente para nada lenta, cada episodio es un avance a descubrir la verdad y de alguna manera hace que todas las emociones que sienta el protagonista se transmitan al espectador (no podía dejar de sentir rabia y luego miedo con cada escena). Es una serie que a pesar de que parece no ser muy buena visualmente hace que esto sea un elemento a favor que contribuye a la atmósfera de tensión y drama de toda la historia. Con cada episodio podía sentir como incrementaba mi rabia por todas las injusticias que ocurrían en ella haciéndome que realmente me cuestionara y llegara a que realmente las personas son capaces de hacer que el infierno se sienta como si fuera la vida, con sus acciones, comentarios y por sus tratos. Eso es algo que los k-dramas tienen que los hace más especiales y es que de alguna manera logran reflejar perfectamente las situaciones de injusticias.

An important source through which I discovered series, and through which I discovered this one, was through TikTok where I see video edits made by fans. Having seen one of these edits was that my curiosity for the series was born and when I met the main actors it caught my attention even more and after doing a little research about it I made the decision to watch it. Many years ago when I constantly watched k-dramas with my sister they were always of romance and drama genre, I had never dared to watch a k-drama of psychological horror genre because I was always a little afraid of the way Asians present the visual terror, the way they record the scenes and all the elements that make them look even more terrifying. However, after I recently got back into the world of k-dramas I decided to give it a chance not only because of its interesting plot but also because it somehow reminded me of NBC's Hannibal.

When I took a look at the first few episodes I was immediately hooked and at the same time I felt a lot of fear and anxiety, the series is entertaining and doesn't feel slow at all, each episode is an advance to discover the truth and somehow makes all the emotions that the protagonist feels are transmitted to the viewer (I couldn't stop feeling anger and then fear with each scene). It is a series that even though it seems to be not very good visually makes this an element in favor that contributes to the atmosphere of tension and drama of the whole story. With each episode I could feel my rage increase for all the injustices happening in it making me really question myself and come to that really people are capable of making hell feel like life, with their actions, comments and by their dealings. That is something that k-dramas have that makes them more special and that is that somehow they manage to perfectly reflect the situations of injustices.

La serie nos muestra situaciones de la vida real como el tener conflictos con tus compañeros de trabajo, la difícil realidad de comenzar un trabajo que a penas te da para sobrevivir, el tener que vivir en un lugar en situaciones precarias para ahorrar dinero. Es una serie que te muestra muchas realidades no sólo de la vida sino de las personas, como estas te puedan llegar a tratar te conozcan o no. La serie logra que el personaje principal se llene de dudas, inseguridades y conflictos por todo lo que tiene que vivir haciendo que poco a poco se cuestione si es una persona muy emocional o si realmente las personas son así de malas. La serie es fuerte y cruda de ver no solo en sus escenas sangrientas y crudas sino en su forma de mostrar al mundo real el cual no siempre te recibirá con un abrazo.

Los personajes son complejos y muestran diferentes facetas que los hace ser aún más auténticos y humanos a pesar de que poco a poco comiencen a sucumbir en sus instintos más feroces y primitivos. Es de estas series en donde nuestro protagonista busca acabar con el mal y dar a conocer todo lo que ocurre, siendo así nunca me cansaré de ver todas las formas en las que los productores y directores son capaces de mostrar esta temática y aún así que todas se sientan únicas y originales.

The series shows us real life situations such as having conflicts with your co-workers, the difficult reality of starting a job that barely gives you enough to survive, having to live in a place in precarious situations to save money. It is a series that shows you many realities not only of life but of people, how they can treat you whether they know you or not. The series manages to fill the main character with doubts, insecurities and conflicts because of everything he has to live through, making him question little by little if he is a very emotional person or if people are really that bad. The series is strong and raw to watch not only in its bloody and raw scenes but in its way of showing the real world which will not always welcome you with a hug.

The characters are complex and show different facets that make them even more authentic and human despite the fact that little by little they begin to succumb to their fiercest and most primitive instincts. It is one of these series where our protagonist seeks to put an end to evil and make known everything that happens, being so I will never get tired of seeing all the ways in which producers and directors are able to show this theme and yet they all feel unique and original.

A pesar de que hay varios elementos que me hubiese gustado que les dieran mayor explicación creo que la serie está bastante buena con la forma en la que la desarrollaron en sus episodios. Y aunque tienen varias escenas en donde se hacen insinuaciones de cosas que son verdad no se siente como si realmente estuvieran contando la verdad, los actores hacen que estás afirmaciones se sientan parte de un juego. ¿Está realmente diciendo la verdad o es todo parte de un plan mayor?, ir descubriendo la verdad también es emocionante y en cada momento se siente como la tensión entre los personajes aumenta y la sangre corre aún más rápido. En cada escena que vemos del protagonista en su vida cotidiana hace que todo se sienta más natural y más cerca de la vida real haciendo que, en mi caso, podamos sentirnos identificados con el.

Desde que vi aquel video edit de la serie supe que tenía que verla y que de alguna manera se convertiría en uno de mis k-dramas favoritos, definitivamente me engancho y no podía dejar de pensar en lo que ocurriría en el siguiente episodio, sin mentirles me lo terminé en tres días y cuando lo terminé solo queria verlo de nuevo jajaja. Es una serie retorcida y fuerte que te muestra a lo que pueden llegar las personas si deciden indagar en la parte más oscura de sus almas. Las escenas, la iluminación, los repentinos gliches de pantalla y los elementos censurados hicieron que se sintiera aun más real la situación, ocasionaron mucha tensión y ansiedad en mi cada minuto que pasaba y aún así puedo decir que es una historia increíble, sobre todo el final que es increíblemente sorprendente. La actuación de Lee Dong-Wook fue sorprendente y me dejó complemente hechizada, siempre lo había visto como un príncipe perfecto, muy caballeroso y siempre en etiqueta pero en este papel podemos ver un nivel actoral diferente, un mundo casi inexplorado que tuvo la oportunidad de ver la luz y generó muchísimas emociones, sin duda fue una gran actuación.

Although there are several elements that I would have liked more explanation I think the series is pretty good with the way they developed it in their episodes. And although they have several scenes where they make insinuations of things that are true it doesn't feel like they are really telling the truth, the actors make these statements feel like part of a game, is he really telling the truth or is it all part of a bigger plan, uncovering the truth is also exciting and at every moment you feel the tension between the characters increase and the blood runs even faster. In every scene we see of the protagonist in his daily life makes everything feel more natural and closer to real life making that, in my case, we can feel identified with him.

Since I saw that video edit of the series I knew I had to watch it and that somehow it would become one of my favorite k-dramas, it definitely got me hooked and I couldn't stop thinking about what would happen in the next episode, without lying to you I finished it in three days and when I finished it I just wanted to watch it again hahaha. It's a twisted and strong series that shows you what people can get to if they decide to dig into the darkest part of their souls. The scenes, the lighting, the sudden screen glitches and the censored elements made the situation feel even more real, it caused a lot of tension and anxiety in me every minute that passed and yet I can still say it's an amazing story, especially the ending which is incredibly surprising. Lee Dong-Wook's performance was amazing and left me completely spellbound, I had always seen him as a perfect prince, very chivalrous and always in etiquette but in this role we can see a different acting level, an almost unexplored world that had the opportunity to see the light and generated a lot of emotions, it was certainly a great performance.

Me encantó esta serie, está cargada de emociones y mucha tensión, todos los personajes tienen un propósito y lo van cumpliendo a medida avanza la historia. Creo que el punto de inflexión de la historia fue el cambio de pensamientos del personaje sobre por qué se está volviendo loco. Al principio pensó que la única razón era que la gente en su residencia está loca. Pero luego se dio cuenta de que la gente de todo el mundo son demonios y que realmente vivimos en el infierno. Entonces, después de esa comprensión, vi la historia de un hombre decente que se vuelve loco por el disgusto de las personas que lo rodean. Experimenté no solo la emoción con el personaje, sino también cada uno de sus estrés internos y desesperación en su pequeña habitación.

Es una historia fascinante e integrante que te hace querer entrar en aquella residencia por pura curiosidad ya que cada cuarto oculta una historia, un alma y un pecado. Es de esas historias que aunque sabes que todo lo que está ocurriendo está mal no puedes evitar querer saber más sobre la razón de todas las atrocidades que ocurren en ella. Al terminarla pude concluir de que tenía muchas similitudes con la serie de Hannibal y que por ello es que me había gustado tanto, los personajes tienen mucha historia y aunque no hay una explicación explícita sobre sus acciones podemos ver el otro lado de la moneda y meditar las diferentes realidades, las diferentes emociones y las diferentes razones.

I loved this series, it is loaded with emotions and a lot of tension, all the characters have a purpose and they are fulfilling it as the story progresses. I think the turning point of the story was the character's change of thoughts on why he is going crazy. At first he thought the only reason was that the people in his residence were crazy. But then he realized that people all over the world are demons and that we really do live in hell. Then, after that realization, I saw the story of a decent man who becomes crazy because of the dislike of the people around him. I experienced not only the emotion with the character, but also each of his inner stresses and despair in his small room.

It is a fascinating and integrating story that makes you want to enter that residence out of pure curiosity because each room hides a story, a soul and a sin. It is one of those stories that even though you know that everything that is happening is wrong you can't help but want to know more about the reason for all the atrocities that occur in it. When I finished it I could conclude that it had many similarities with the Hannibal series and that is why I liked it so much, the characters have a lot of history and although there is no explicit explanation about their actions we can see the other side of the coin and meditate on the different realities, the different emotions and the different reasons.
