Walls that Speak (#17)
Although I still have a couple of pictures left from street arts explored in the town I'm currently living in, I ended up postponing the moment when I'll write a new post within this community, thinking that I still have a few left to discover from the latest edition of SISAF from 2024.
Sadly, time passes with incredible speed, and here I am, just one month away from this year's edition of SISAF, and I still haven't caught up with those from the previous edition.
Hence, I decided to write down today's post, with the hope that it will also come as a motivation to have a new walk in town, exclusively with this purpose. However, it's pretty easy to get distracted these days with so many events and festivals in town.
Today's post doesn't follow a specific theme as I got you used to, but it will still take part in the CCC'S Street Art Contest #254. Hope you enjoy today's picks!
The first mural which I have crossed by many times it's also one of my favourites. Not because it involves lots of colours or details, as in fact, it's a pretty minimalist design as you can see, but because its simplicity creates so much emotion. Plus, this represents the first street art painted on a private building in Sibiu, which also gave the start to the following artists who followed the example and brought more colour to the apartment buildings from more neighbourhoods.
Name: UNKNOWN TITLE (2016)
Artists: PISICA PĂTRATĂ
Location: Strada Șureanu 1, Sibiu 557260, România
Next up, we have another minimalist mural, but this time it is meant to represent the friendly meeting between two different cultures. Hence, even at a first glance, the design might seem like a mirrored design, but it only shows that people have so much in common with other people, even if they don't share the same cultural traditions or native language.
Name: TWO HORSEMEN (2022)
Artists: MARIA MAKEEVA
Location: Strada Spartacus 4-6, Sibiu 550282, România
The 3rd mural comes again, with no title, which is a personal touch of the artist "PISICA PĂTRATĂ" who prefers not to give a name to his works because he tries to stay away from fitting into a specific theme. So, just like in the case of the first street art presented in this post, the characters created are meant to stir more curiosity and various emotions rather than sharing a specific and limited story.
Name: NO TITLE (2015)
Artists: PISICA PĂTRATĂ
Location: Strada Șureanu 1, Sibiu 557260, România
The next street art is quite easy to figure out what it represents because it doesn't have a hidden message, but it's meant to make anyone passing by figure out easily what it represents. The artist suggests that reading opens the world for many people, and it's an activity that should be encouraged more within the younger generations who tend to focus mainly on technology only, forgetting about how much colour a book can bring to one person's life and intellect.
Name: OPENNESS (2019)
Artists: TAKERONE
Location: Strada Henri Coandă nr. 51, Sibiu 557260, România
Last but not least, there is this street art that perhaps most of the people who made it to the center of Sibiu at least once have already noticed it, being placed in a very popular location with tourists. The art is meant to pay tribute to the touch left by electricity on people, the power station from Sadu being very suggestive, as it was the first one from Romania.
Name: CENTRALA DE LA SADU I (2018)
Artists: ANONIM
Location: Strada Cetății, Sibiu, România

I sincerely hope that this tour of the city will motivate you to do many more, because the art you have brought today is wonderful. I loved the artist PISICA PĂTRATĂ, perhaps because of the emotion and expression in his art, which, even though it has no title, says a lot, as if labels or words were unnecessary, the faces, gestures and attitudes say so much more.
Reading is something that has been lost in some places, especially among young people, and it is key to culture. That mural is very well done, and the last one is very significant, I think, for many parts of the world as well, like the union of cultures.
I love seeing art in the streets, meeting new artists and seeing what they have to say to us, and this tour has been spectacular. Thank you very much, Gabriela!

Thank you very much @topcomment and @roadstories!!!😃
Thank you so much for your beautiful message! It truly means a lot to me. I'm so glad you enjoy Pisica Pătrată’s work, as I felt the same was,y and there are really plenty of his works in town. His ability to communicate so much emotion and meaning without words is remarkable.
You're right, reading and culture go hand in hand, and seeing that message reflected in street art gives it even more power, especially when it speaks to young people. It's also such a strong and needed reminder in today’s world.
They have all been very beautiful works, thank you for that, and I hope society changes to become more cultured.
