Greetings, friends. Recently, I was thinking about iconic horror movie characters and how cool it would be to make a set of these characters before the end of the month. So, I decided to get to work and start this new project with one of these characters, the antagonist from the movie Friday the 13th, the terrifying Jason Voorhees.

I decided to make the figures in Chibi style, as it's a style I really enjoy working with and I feel that the figures end up with a bit of personality that makes them look great.

That said, I invite you to join me in the creative process of this great icon of the horror genre.

Saludos amigos. Hace poco estuve pensando en los icónicos personajes de películas de terror y lo genial que sería hacer un Set de estos personajes antes de que termine el mes. Así que decidí poner manos a la obra y comenzar con este nuevo proyecto con uno de estos personajes, antagonista de la película Viernes 13, el terrorífico Jason Voorhees.

Las figuritas decidí hacerlas en estilo Chibi, pues es un estilo que me gusta mucho hacer y siento que las figuritas al final tienen un poco de personalidad que las hace lucir geniales.

Dicho esto, los invito a acompañarme en el proceso creativo de este gran ícono del género del terror.

Step by step

The first thing I did was the legs. To start, I cut a small piece of wire that would serve as the base for the feet and legs. Look at the image below to see the initial shape of the wire, which is an inverted V.

I placed the plasticine on this wire base and began to mold it until I achieved the desired shape.

Paso a paso

Lo primero que hice fueron las piernas. Para empezar corté un trocito de alambre el cual me serviría como base para los pies y las piernas. Fíjense en la imagen de abajo para que vean la forma inicial del alambre una V invertida.

Sobre esta base de alambre coloqué la plastilina, la cual comencé a moldear hasta lograr la forma deseada.

I continued shaping the leg, making the folds in the clothing to make it as realistic as possible. For the body, I made a shape similar to a tornado, but upside down. I joined these two pieces together using more wire, resulting in the image you see on the right.

Continué moldeando la pierna, haciendo los pliegues de la ropa para hacerlo lo más realista posible. En cuanto al cuerpo hice una forma similar a un tornado, pero al revés. Estas dos piezas las uní usando más alambre, dando como resultado la imagen que ven a la derecha.

After making the body and legs, I continued with a jacket. I made it with thin sheets of brown plasticine, which I placed around the character's torso.

Después de hacer el cuerpo y las piernas, continué con una chaqueta. La hice con delgadas láminas de plastilina color marrón, la cual coloqué alrededor del torso del personaje.

I continued shaping the piece, trying to make it look as much like a jacket as possible, worn and frayed with tears and with the bottom edge completely worn out. Once the jacket was done, I continued with the shoes, which I made with brown plasticine, but much darker.

I placed the shoes on the wire base, which will allow the character to stand upright without any problems.

Continué moldeando la pieza, tratando de hacer lo más parecido a una chaqueta, gastada y raída con girones y con el borde inferior completamente gastado. Una vez hecha la chaqueta, continué con los zapatos, los cuales hice con una plastilina color marrón pero mucho más oscura.

Los zapatos los coloqué en la base de alambre, esto permitirá que el personaje pueda mantenerse en pie sin ningún problema.

The last thing I did with regard to the body were the arms, which I made the same color as the jacket, adding folds and lines along the arm to make it look as much like fabric clothing as possible.

Ya lo último que hice con respecto al cuerpo fueron los brazos, los cuales hice del mismo color que la chaqueta, colocando pliegues y líneas a lo largo del brazo para dar una forma lo más parecida posible a ropa de tela.

After finishing the body, I continued with the head. It is much larger than the rest of the body, due to the chibi style of the figure. I didn't make a face, but rather the shape of the head, and on top of it I placed the mask of Jason that I made, so well known and iconic.

Luego de terminar el cuerpo, continué con la cabeza. Esta es mucho más grande que el resto del cuerpo, por el mismo estilo chibi de la figura. No le hice rostro, sino que hice la forma de la cabeza y encima de esta coloqué la máscara de Jason que hice, tan conocida y emblemática.

Finally, I added the detail of the machete that Jason usually uses to chop his victims to pieces. I used wire as the base for this weapon and more wire to attach it to the arm, as well as glue to hold all the pieces together.

Para finalizar le hice el detalle del machete que usualmente Jason usa para picar en pedazos a sus víctimas. Usé alambre como base de esta arma y más alambre para poder fijarlo en el brazo, además de pegamento para mantener unidas a todas las piezas.

And that's how the figurine was finished. Below you can see a series of photographs of the final result:
