That's a pretty cool resort with a nice amount of heritage built into it. I would have considered those to be totem poles as well, but I think I've also heard before that in some traditions they have different meanings as you mentioned.
Fitzsimmons Creek was looking very turbulent by the resort, and I'm wondering if that area is allowed to be fished. Some online sources reflect it's a pretty popular creek for trout fisherman and I've little doubt there's some monster trout in that creek.

I didn't know they allowed fishing in the creek. This is a cool area in general with a lot of camping opportunities. There's some backcountry camping too, so you can get into deep rugged areas. I climbed up to an alpine area where I could see Black Tusk mountain (home of the thunderbird). I did some tenkara fishing in the lake and caught dinner. It's an outdoor wonderland.
