Between Knowing What Is In The Past And The Future ||| LOH Contest #162

What is the point in holding on to the past when I can get better prepared and look forward to the future?

The past is history and that is where it should belong. Having much knowledge about it may likely drive me nuts and let me down the road of regrets. So if I could choose between knowing about the past and the future I would eagerly choose to see more of what the future holds for me.

It could save me from diving into the wrong things or going into a fruitless relationship.

Imagine that I'm single and ready to mingle, I met someone I thought was special, and after checking to see if he clicked my checklist, he seemed like someone I could build something very outstanding with. I thought about getting to know him more. But during this period, I had a dream. In this dream, I saw him getting married to a different lady.

I did not take only the thought of my dream for it but I took my time to investigate his life. In the end, I discovered that almost everything he told me about his past life was nothing but beautiful lies. Dude has a fiancee, though they were in a long-distance relationship.

And so does the relationship come to an end before it gets started. This is not just an imaginary story But it did happen to me in the past. You and I know what might happen if I never had that dream about him. Looking back now, I am glad I never pursued such a fruitless relationship.

There are times, when a glimpse of what will happen in the future is revealed to me, when I take caution it saves me from some troubles. And there are times, I don't know what to do with what I have seen, like when I see the death of loved ones before it happens. And in this case, it kind of torments me, not knowing how to act to change a possible bad future. But these days, I try to change what I can and prepare myself to accept a foreseen bad future I can't change.

Our past and the future are very connected together, knowing the history of things might help us make better decisions for the future and get more prepared for what it's to come. Though this can easily make one slide into many regrets of what ifs.

And at the same time, if our future can always be shown to us, we might be able to avoid many obstacles. Just like my story above.
