I built a hive analytics script with no coding skills (Get your report inside!)
Yesterday, I wrote about creating code without actually knowing how to code anymore. To give you some context: I was a developer for about 6 months at the start of my career, back when animals could still speak.
Curiosity got the better of me, so I used AI to create a Python script to analyze my Hive performance last month. Honestly, I doubt I will use it for a long time. Why? Because I discovered that my deep-dive article about AI got beaten in rewards by a post about... the translation of "toilet paper" in Spanish. Nothing kills motivation quite like seeing a dictionary screenshot out-earn a technical article! 😅
But it is what it is. I wanted to start this post on a more positive note. In Flemish/Dutch we say "meten is weten" (to measure is to know), a quote often attributed to Lord Kelvin.
Lately, I've been struggling with the question: "Should I stay or should I go?" I haven't answered that for myself yet, so we will see how it continues. For now, I just wanted to know exactly how I performed on Hive in November 2025.
So, without any coding knowledge, Gemini and I created this tool.
Script input parameters
Why I do start the script I have to answer 3 questions:

- Enter Month (1-12, or '0' for Full Year): 11
Script output
The output in de CLI (Command Line Interface) does contain much more information. But I that would be too much. I does list all the post writing during the selected period and will give statistics about the poest.

For sure the Curator performance is interesting for me. That is where lots of Hive has been delegated to. And we all like a curator vote from time to time.
Also great to see that I do receive a decent amount of comments, which I do think are more valuable then upvotes. Thanks to all who do want to interact with me.
I am still working on something to compare the current month with the past 6 months or current year with the past 5 years.
I do enjoy trying to figure out what can gathered on the blockchain.
For me, the Curator Performance section is particularly interesting. That is where a lot of Hive Power has been delegated to, and we all appreciate a curator vote from time to time.
It is also great to see that I receive a decent amount of comments. I genuinely believe comments are more valuable than upvotes. A big thank you to everyone who took the time to interact with me!

No prob, you gave me some good input. For sure with the curation. I never thought about that. And while that result was amazing it seems to be correct.
I think some people focus on just the post rewards, but for the people who are actively engaging, commenting, and curating, that added metric is an important tool.
