An ordinary Weekend Recap
My weekend started, as usual, on Friday evening with a pool night among friends. This time there were only three of us — the fourth was busy with his final weekend as prince carnival. I had planned to keep it short, knowing Saturday would start early, but predictably, that didn’t happen. I got home around 1 a.m.

Saturday morning began with a quick trip to the recycling center with my brother-in-law. With the site closing for a full year due to renovations, we expected long queues, but it was surprisingly smooth. We were done within an hour. The plan is to improve things — underground containers, no more stairs — so it makes sense in the long run, even if it’s temporarily inconvenient.
After that, we carpooled to my oldest son’s football match, about an hour away. My wife joined later, as usual. The team won 6–1, but the match was far from perfect. My son picked up a needless yellow card — his third of the season — meaning a forced week off next weekend. On the way back, we picked up some food instead of cooking and kept the evening low-key. There was a brief thought about attending the announcement of the new carnival prince, but we decided to skip it. Sometimes, choosing quiet over obligation is the smarter move.
I spent the rest of the evening catching up on Physical: Asia on Netflix. Having seen both seasons of Physical 100, I enjoyed how the country-based format added extra tension and variety. The scale of the sets is absurd, and the challenges clearly come from people who love pushing limits to the extreme. Korean unscripted shows never fail to impress me — Culinary Class Wars and Devil’s Plan felt the same.
Sunday started early with my youngest’s away match at 9:30. We picked him up from my sister’s place, and after dropping him off, grabbed a coffee and breakfast at a nearby bakery. Unfortunately, the match ended in a heavy 14–4 loss, leaving frustrated parents behind and a coach who had already left at halftime for another game. Not the start to the day anyone hoped for.

The afternoon slowed down. I watched some winter sports, caught part of the first NFL game of the weekend, and finally tackled the dishes that had been lingering. A small win, but it made the evening feel calmer. At some point, I also spent time working on the Premier League prediction module. No bets placed, no Hive post written. I hit a wall, so I set it aside, knowing it would make more sense after a little distance. I’ll likely revisit it this week.
Sunday evening ended quietly with a short visit to my in-laws for something small to eat, followed by a few more episodes of Physical: Asia. Four left, I think. Hive barely featured this weekend, which was fine — a proper detox felt necessary. Better to step back intentionally than to disappear for months and return with a half-apologetic “still alive” post.
How was your weekend?
Sounds like a pretty awesome weekend. Plus you got to spend it with all the most important people, so that is a definite win!
For sure!
