Goals

It's always good to set yourself goals, so you have something you can work towards. That is why I joined the #saturdaysavers initiative by @eddie-earner and @shanibeer this year again. In this post I'll share an update on my progress working towards my goals.

Here are the goals I've set to reach before the end of 2025:

  1. 35,000 Hive (a 23,29% growth)
  2. 4000 HBD (a 99,60% growth)
  3. 40,000 Virtual Hive (a 18,38% growth)

The progress

In the following table you can see an overview of the progress of my goals.
Virtual Hive is the total of all my Hive (staked and liquid) plus the amount of Hive I can buy with my HBD at the current price of Hive ($0,246)

Token1-1-2025Target ValueCurrent Value% of Goal
Hive28,388.60935,00039,647.962170.34
HBD2003,97140000.107-102.56
Virtual Hive36,856.640,00039,648.494.34

This week I've managed to increase my stake with 164 Hive to a total of 39,647.962. That is quite a bit less than last week where I added a total of 234 Hive to my stake.

The progress for both my Hive and virtual Hive is going nicely. I have already exceeded my Hive goal 70%, but that is because I've used all my HBD to buy Hive at the current low price. When the price will go up I will power down some of my Hive stake to buy back some HBD. This way I can profit from the price fluctuations.
For now, I’m using the extra Hive stake to accumulate more Hive through curation.
When I check my stats on hivestats.io I can see that I've collected almost 55 extra HP with curation last week. My curation APR is above 8% which is a good percentage (as I have been told).

My author rewards are a bit higher than the week before where I had just over 40 HP and almost 9 HBD. This reflects in a higher total earnings this week of $43 compared to $31 last week.

This was it for this week!
Thanks for reading my update!

Using Hive’s price fluctuations to optimize your holdings is a move I need to master myself. The curation rewards stacking up over time should add another steady boost to the growth... Awesome strategy

Thanks! There is not much to master. It's a matter of buy low, sell high 😃
So when the price goes back to 30-40-50 I'll start powering down my Hive and buy back HBD with less Hive.

Or buying back in multiple steps. Last time I bought back HBD @0,35 - 0,43 and 0,55 HBD per Hive. After three weeks of powerdowns the price went down again.

8%? Good job! Think I am hovering at 5-6% on my curation. But then again its nothing I activly try to increase, I just upvote :)

I should getting back to the habit of tracking again!

I like the term ‘virtual hive’ nice to track it in that way. Must work harder and get my curation rewards somewhere near that 8%

Thanks! The virtual Hive isn't that interesting now that I don't have any HBD, but when convert some Hive back to HBD it does.

Must work harder and get my curation rewards somewhere near that 8%

Your 2.73% could indeed be improved. Don't work harder, but work smarter.
Just check in twice a day and cast some votes.
If you don't have the time to read all posts, vote on people you know always deliver quality.
Or join PeakD snaps. I been casting quite some 20% upvotes on Snaps lately.

Thanks, I’ll look at snaps more closely and take that advice on checking in twice a day

Wow you reached one goal already and the other one is close as well :)
You might adjust yours targets a bit now?

No, I'm going to need the extra Hive to buy back some HBD to reach my HBD goal as well.
As I set my goal to 4000 HBD I need at least another 16,000 Hive to buy back HBD or 8,000 Hive when Hive is at the price of $ 0.50 😉

So I keep growing my Hive stake until the price goes up. At the end of the year I hope to have achieved both goals.
