Review of some French 'artisanal' beers during my holiday in France!

As you might already know I like to try new beers, so whenever I am visiting a city or a town, I always try to find some local or regional beers to drink. Since I am on holiday in France now, it is great, because there is a big chance I haven't tasted the local or regional beers yet.

By collecting the bottle caps I also have a reminder of the beer and the place I was when I drank it. My collection of bottle caps has become a collection of good memories from trips and holidays this way.

Last week I was in Clermond-Ferrand which is a big city in the middle of France when I found a shop that sold many wines and beers; Nicolas craft beers & cie, Clermont-Ferrand.

@detlev, isn't it an idea to register all beer shops on the Worldmappin map?

The shop had a large amount of beers and most of them were regional ones.
In this blog I'll share reviews of three of them.

Marea La superbe brew co west coast IPA

The beer shop had the beers categorized by type. IPA's and blondes are my favorite styles. Apart from the style I select the beers by checking out the label and the bottle cap.
I'm collecting bottle caps of all the different beers I have had. The bottle caps are hold a memory of the places I have been to.
The bottle cap of this beer had the text "Stay hydrated", which made me smile, so I decided to buy this one.

The Marea IPA is quite a fruity, slight bitter IPA from microbrewery La superbe which was founded in 2016 in Biarritz.
I've been told that craft beers are becoming more popular in France and the French are drinking less wine every year.
And I can understand it with these beers, because it was a really tasty one. Perfectly in balance. Just enough carbonation.
I would rate it 4 out of 5.

Hazy rider Hoppy road NEIPA

The second beer is a New England IPA. I selected this one because of the label which I liked.
The bottle cap has a road in between the mountains, like there are many here in the Aubergne region.
The bwer has a very fruity smell and a light yellow color. It tasted a bit sweet and less bitter than the IPA. But NEIPA's are always less bitter then regular IPA's.
Again, this was a really nice beer. Very smooth.
I would also rate this a 4 out of 5.

La dominante, Othentik, Triple

La dominante is a triple style beer from the brewery Othentik.
I liked the label and bottle cap because the man on it has a typical French look with his beret and the suspenders.
Triples often have a slightly higher alcohol percentage. This triple had a promillage of 8%, which was clearly noticeable. The higher the percentage, the more alcoholic 'warmth' they give.
I usually like these beers better in winter because of that.
Although it was a nice beer I liked the IPA's better. I rated it a 3 out of 5.

These look delicious, man. I finally got the chance to try a few beers, and I can't wait to share them on Hive. I need to read more beer posts so I can learn how to share them properly 😂

Hydrated and dizzy—a fine combination. Cheers! In these scorching days, a cold beer, grilled fish, and a dip in the river… that would be heaven for me. 🤜🤛
