Leaves, leaves, leaves...
Winter is coming our way. Days are getting shorter and darker and we've been getting a lot more rain and wind too. Until now we have had quite a soft autumn with a lot of sun, but in the past days the temperature was going down and down.
This week the temperatures will even go below zero in the night.
About a week ago I photographed the tree in our front yard. The tree was still full of yellow leaves.

But how different is it this week. Most of the leaves are gone now and the tree is almost barren. It won't take long before the tree wil be completely barren.

Despite the weather I decided to go for a walk during my lunch break. When I work from home I always try to go for a walk in the neighborhood. This time I was mainly focussed on the ground.
In the front yard I noticed that a lot of the leaves didn't blow far from the tree. My lawn is mostly yellow at the moment.
I will need to do some raking this weekend to give the grass some air.

During the walk I spotted a lot more leaves on the pavement. It’s impossible to keep your sidewalk clean at the moment since most trees are dropping their leaves now. From the municipality they placed cages where residents can collect their leaves. But when you remove the leaves now new ones will be there again tomorrow.

A bunch of leaves are collected against the curbs. I liked this shot because there had formed a pile of brown leaves which gave a nice contrast with the green moss on the pavement.

The wet weather results in more moss. Trees are also covered in moss. I thought this one was quite nice looking.

At the end of my walk, the sky cleared up and the sun gently came through.

It was a nice walk. I was glad it didn't start raining during my walk and it even ended up with a bit of sun. I appreciate the sun even more in these dark and cold days.

I can cope with the cold if there is sun. Keep that rain away until the evening lol Today we are hovering around 1 degree all day long!
🥶
I think I haven't seen a ray of sun today.....
Maybe we got your share today 🤣
That's just the way it is, when switching from one season to another
Cleaning up the leaves is as they say 'dweilen met de kraan open' 😁 but I think older people still do this, keeping their curbs clean.
How is the curb that green and mossy? Don't the municipality clean the curbs with a vehicle with bristles?
Winter is coming for sure, white roofs for the first time this morning... and it's my cycling day! 🥶
It's not an urban area where I took that photo, so it has no priority to clean it up I guess.
I also went cycling to work today. It hailed this morning just before I arrived at work 🥶
