6 reasons why you should go cycling!
As an avid cyclist I often have to explain people what I like about cycling. That is why I'm sharing 6 reasons why I think you should go cycling.

1: For your health
Cycling frequently lowers your body fat levels. And you don’t even have to cycle with a high intensity.
It won’t necessarily mean you also lose weight because the fat is replaced with muscles.
Cycling also helps to increase your shape by strengthening your muscles and improve your cardio vascular system.
Cycling outside can even have a positive effect on your mental health since you can clear your mind during a bike ride.
2: For the environment
Cycling is one of the means of transport that has a very low carbon footprint.
Yes, a bicycle needs to be produced and you need to replace some parts every now and then, but that is peanuts compared to a car. And not to mention the fuel. You do need to fuel yourself before and after a bike ride, but food is much cheaper than car fuel.
A research from sciencedirect.com states the following:
“Those who made one less car trip and one more bike trip a day (a proxy for mode shift from car to bike) decreased life cycle CO2 emissions from transport by 67% (95%CI 66–68%).”
3: To save money
Cycling can save you money! Yes, purchasing a bike can be expensive and it also needs some maintenance every now and then, but this is peanuts compared to the costs of a car where you pay a lot for fuel, maintenance, insurance, parking, taxes an a so on.
And in some countries it’s even cheaper than train tickets in the long run.
4: Because it is easy
Almost everyone can learn how to ride a bicycle. Most kids learn to ride a bike at a young age. And once you know how to ride a bike, you'll never forget how to do it. It’s easy to grab your bike for a ride. The impact on your body, for example on your joints, is way less than with other activities like running, tennis, football etcetera. And you don’t even have to be in great shape to make some kilometers. You can start with a short ride at a slow pace and increase the distance and speed as you are more trained.
5: Because it gives you a sense of freedom
Cycling can give you a feeling of freedom. A bicycle can get you quickly to new places. You have a wider range than when you go walking or running and can go to places you can’t reach by car.
I can really enjoy a ride in a natural environment to clear my mind.
6: Because can be a social activity
When you go cycling with friends you can have a nice chat (unless you cycle at a very high intensity). After a bit of training you can easily go for a one hour ride or even longer which gives you plenty of time to socialize.
Planning a ride with friends gives you a big stick to actually go for that ride!
So, what are you waiting for? Just jump on that bike and go for a ride!

Just recently found my passion for cycling. Got a new racer for me to ride on the race called Vätternrundan in Sweden. It's still a bit scary to think that I will need to ride it for 315km though 😅
Cool!
315km is massive! Is that in one ride? The max I've done in one ride is 220 (which was quite enough).
Be sure to make your training kilometers and use some Chamois Creme on the day of the race.
When is your race planned?
Yes in one ride. But you can have some stops to eat on the way.
It's the 17th on june, so I'm in full prepare mode now :D
Oh, that's within a month. How is the training going?
Feel free to share your training efforts in a blog if you an find the time.
I try to drive to work with my bycicle at the moment, because I am on a stationary project at the moment and I only have about 30 minutes and therefore I am usually faster with the bike than with the car since there is a lot of traffic in the morning. But when I am back on my external service engineering job I have to use the car again.
Nice! It can indeed also be faster to go somewhere by bike. Especially in urban areas.
Here in the Netherlands there is a trend of giving cyclists and pedestrians priority over cars. This makes bike trips even faster.
When I think about all the reasons why I like cycling, I think the "Feeling of Freedom" is probably the main reason why I love it. !LUV
I can only underline every point you mentioned! Cycling is what helps everyone!
Love them all. For me it's the adrenaline effect. Hitting the trails, trying tricks, pushing over the limits. It gives me a target to pursue and that's what keeps me motivated. Cycling also liberates other hormones that help with depresion and anxiety (for those who suffer from those issues). And when I'm cycletouring, the bicycle opens soany doors because ppl tend to feel curious when they see a cycletourer.
I don't really have the adrenaline effect while riding on the road, but I can imagene you do.
I do like the victorious feeling while and after accomplishing a strenuous long ride ride of heavy climb.
Your legs hurt, but you feel great!
Are you on Discord by the way?
If so could you add me there?

Those are the happiness hormones 💪
Damn long climbs are indeed rewarding, I love it. The only thing I hate is head and side winds.
It's been a while that I don't use Discord because my pc is slow; i'll try tonight then I add u
