Here Come The Board Reviews!

Tomorrow is the first day of board reviews. The first of 6 days in total, divided into 3 days each (two consecutive Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays).

Today was a transitional day for me in terms of sleeping. I ended up waking up past 3 p.m. Not great at all, considering I'll have to wake up around 5 a.m. tomorrow to make it to this review on time. On the bright side, it is probably gong to be a little bit easier for me to function during daytime hours tomorrow compared to today. When I'm not drinking coffee, a complete transition takes me about 3 days.

So wish me luck staying awake through these 12 hour reviews for the next 3 days. That may be the biggest challenge in all of this. Not to mention, having the attention span for all of it, as they don't allow recordings.

Fortunately, through my residency program, we also secured the ability to have a 2nd session of this board review course later in the year (I'll probably do it in July), so whatever doesn't enter my brain this time will have another opportunity then.

Obviously, it would be in my best interest to still try hard this time around as well, so that the 2nd time will be more of a reminder of everything that's being covered during this initial course.

Ultimately, while I don't need to be board certified in internal medicine in order to practice independently (as I intend to do eventually), I still think it's in my best interest to do so. Not to mention, picking up on as many practical facts as I can is a good thing - knowledge never hurts. It's in the best interest of my patients and makes me a more competent as a physician. If all it costs to do this is a couple of thousand bucks, it's a worthy investment. Knowledge is priceless.

On a separate note, I'm thinking about once again increasing HSBI rewards for the weekly art contest, as well as the AIMA Daily Post. While we're at relatively low Hive prices, it seems that I have plenty of wiggle room to do this, even if the price suddenly doubles. So, this will be good news for everyone!
