Back To Days... But Only Very Briefly

It's like riding a rollercoaster. Now I'm going to be switching back to days for a short while. Friday, Saturday and Sunday I'll be participating in a review course for my upcoming specialty board exam (so I can become board certified in internal medicine), so thankfully my program permitted me to take this course, and is having someone cover my night shifts.

Well, I'll be back to working nights on Monday again. This will continue until Wednesday night / Thursday morning, when I will again switch back to days because... the 2nd half of review course is again taking place on Friday Saturday, and Sunday. Then, I'll come back again on Monday night and complete the rest of the week of night shifts until the morning of April 1st.

Oy oy oy! All this switching back and forth is nuts. I don't know how my brain will work and take in all the content of the review course. I'll do my best and hope that my best will be good enough.

I'm definitely not well-functioning when I'm switching my schedule around like this. I can get my work done, but everything outside of my job becomes quite dysfunctional. I make poor decisions and judgments and start arguments over nothing. I act quite strangely; my most recent thing being filling a room with about 3 dozen blown-up glove balloons... and I'm not even done yet lol!

Well, for now, I'm going to sleep a few hours, then take care of some tasks in the afternoon. Let's how this first transition back to daytime goes.

You know, we are only human. We also get tired. When our brains are dysfunctional, they need to rest, too. While we are still alive, we make the most of it and enjoy every waking moment. Kudos to you.

Definitely, but my rest and enjoyment isn't coming all that soon! Just have to stay focused and look forward to better times. They will come.

It's definitely a big theme for me this month, haha. That's why I've posted a few times about it. Transitioning to daytime right as we speak...

I think it's normal not to function that well when switching these shifts like that. In my twenties I used to work at a gas station and we had night shifts too, I loved the night shifts because they were usually filled with fun people and only a few rush hours to get through (big tips too lol) but we'd never be on nights long, sadly.

Nope, they used to toss us around from 2 day shifts to several nights and then evenings and stuff like that. Often they'd call for a sick colleague and kind of demanded you to come in even though you weren't properly rested yet.

Even though I could handle such things much better when I was younger, even back then that was too much for me to deal with. I surely couldn't do it anymore now in my fourties lol.

But seems for you this is just a one time thing because of the exams so hopefully you'll be back to normal soon!
