The Bright and the Dark Sides of Social Media Monetization

Hi guys, I trust you're having a beautiful day.
With a lot happening with the global economy, it's enough to throw some persons into depression and other mental illnesses. This time more than ever, a lot of folks are on the lookout for various sources of income. As we all know, one stream of income is no longer enough for one person, and some people have to provide for families of 3 to 5.
Monetizing Social Media
As it is for every other thing that has an advantage or a positive outcome and a disadvantage or negative outcome, so all the introduction of monetization has brought about positives and also negatives in the online space.
The monetization of social media has brought about the creation of new revenue streams for both individuals and businesses. On these social media platforms, you can get paid for creating content, as long as that content reaches a particular threshold or more, you become eligible to be paid some amount of money.
This has really helped so many people, as most people now survive off of their earnings from these social media platforms.
Although for you to be able to earn a decent amount, you would have to have grown your followings on these platforms and also try to release quality content that your audience is willing and eager to consume, it doesn't just stop at this, your content also should be engaging, hence drawing traffic to your page.

When there's a consciousness that at the end of the day you would get paid for putting something out there, I think this can be a source of motivation for creating quality and premium content.
Compared to the initial years of social media, one can now get a good amount of quality content, I think this is as a result of the monetization.
With this trend of monetization, there have been so many contents that are similar or homogenous, because everyone is focusing on what is trending or what is in vogue that will generate income for them rather than create unique content. Copy and paste is almost like the order of the day, most people are not thinking outside the box.

Monetization has brought about an unspoken or silent competition among content creators, everyone wanting to look for a way to outshine the other person, and most people don't care about the length they have to go to achieve this.
Healthy competition is great, but when it becomes unhealthy and begins to bring about feud and enmity, this can then be dangerous or harmful.
The pursuit of income has led to a decline in our moral and cultural values, as most people are willing to do anything for the likes, engagement, comments etc. Most people wouldn't mind putting up content that speaks ill about others just because they want traffic on their posts.
I remembered one time, a particular blogger was always twisting the words of a particular pastor to bring traffic from both the once supporting whatever has been posted, and others kicking against the post.
Personally, I appreciate the introduction of this monetization, but my only wish is that people use it appropriately and not exploit it. This is my submission for the #Hivelearners weekly featured content. What do you think about Social Media monetization, a good or an evil, kindly share your opinion in the comment section.

It's exactly because people lack new content ideas, that's why they use clickbaits like fake news and secual contents to push their contents and get engagement. I feel like this set of people should undergo restrictions.
