Hi guys, welcome back to my blog, hope you all are having an awesome day.

Has someone ever done something for you that you never believed and it moved you to tears, well that was what happened on Monday, (newsflash, it wasn't for me, although I wished it was, but this person deserved her flowers). Sometimes, it's not how elaborate the gesture is, but the thought behind the gesture is what counts.

On Friday last week, the 20th of June was my boss's birthday. Before I get into all of the details, let me tell you a little about my boss. My boss is a sweet soul, she's very accessible and has this open-door policy that encourages all of us to go to her whenever we have or are faced with any challenge.

When she sits down sometimes to discuss with us and you hear her laugh so loudly, you begin to wonder who exactly is the boss amongst us.

When it comes to professional development, give it to my boss, she pushes us to be better, and she does all she can to see that we grow professionally and be better than where we were. Is it the training she has had to organize for us so that we ha have a better understanding of what we do, so we can do it excellently well or the retreats she organizes for us to ensure that we take out some time to relax and bond as a team? She does so much for us and when I in particular count my blessings, count her twice.

So like I said, last week Friday was her birthday, but she has this habit of always staying away from work whenever it's her birthday, we all just usually wish her and call her, but this year, we all decided that wouldn't be the case, so we decided to plan a surprise birthday party for her.

We all decided to pull resources together to make the party a reality. I was put in charge of collecting the funds. When we realized what we could make do, and started the planning proper, we decided on the gift to give and all the food, and drinks, who was going to be in charge of the catering, and how to find out if she would be at work on the next Monday, which was some days back.

I never knew it could be difficult planning to surprise someone as we had to keep everything away from her, it was really not easy, but we were able to get everything set. We found a baker to handle the cake, and a caterer to handle the food and drinks, as for the decorations, we did it ourselves as we didn't really do anything elaborate.

On the D'day, she got to work and we warmly welcomed her, and she was all smiley. The time for the party was supposed to be by noon, we had already invited our colleagues from some other department, and the Hall to be used was already prepped.

When it was time, we told her a client wanted to see her in the conference room, when she went in, the chorus of Happy Birthday to you started, but she never saw it coming.

She even shed some tears as she was pleasantly surprised.
After the happy birthday song, some people had some goodwill messages to say, they did that then she cut the cake after which we proceeded to take pictures. We ate and drank and danced a little, we presented her gift to her as well.

She thanked every one of us that made the party a success, she said she thought she had dogged us since she didn't come to work on the exact day of the birthday, unknown to her that we were cooking something, she prayed and wished us well, that even as we have celebrated her that we also will be celebrated. The party came to an end and everybody had to go back to their respective desks.

Nothing beats organizing something, and it comes out well, the feeling that comes with it is out of this world. Everyone went home smiling and satisfied with the outcome of the day. I just thought to share my experience as I was part of the planning and I had a good time in all of it.

Have you ever planned a surprise party before or has a surprise party been thrown for you, how did you feel, please feel free to share your experience in the comments section.

Thank you for stopping by🌹
