My Memorable First Driving Experience
Hello fellow Hiveans, how have you all been?
Trying out new things for some people can come with an exhilarating feeling, while for others, it comes with a feeling of fear or dread. As much as we all have different personalities, so also we have ways of coping or dealing with certain things in our lives.
Share a story about one of your "firsts" maybe your first big travel, first personal big expense, first time away from home, first crush/love/kiss, first job/salary, or even your first time attending any kind of concert"
First times are usually funny in a way, but at the time when you’re experiencing whatever it is you are experiencing for the first time, it might not really be funny, but after some time, when you look back, you tend to have a good laugh about the whole experience.
I thought long and hard recently about acquiring some essential life skills, and the first thing that came to my mind was ‘driving’. Yeah, you heard me right, I think driving is a life skill that everyone should have in this day and age.
So, I had my first-ever driving lesson last week Sunday. I had been putting off this learning for a while now because of fear, but with encouragement from some friends and family, I decided to give it a shot.
When I reached out to a driving instructor who happens to be my friend as well, he gave me a time and venue for Sunday. I got there on time, before even the agreed time, I didn’t want anything to hold me back.
By the time started teaching about the various functions and uses of the different parts of a car, I was fascinated by the whole mechanism behind driving a car.
A few minutes later, I was asked to come take over the wheel, at this point, my legs were almost turning to jelly 😂, but I had to give myself some pep talk on the reason I was here in the first place. My instructor also encouraged me with a very funny driving-related story.
So, there was this guy, whose father bought him a car, and the car was then delivered to his workplace, before this time, the guy never knew how to move a car, but upon seeing the car gift, he called his dad and thank him after the call with his dad, he called some of his guys and asked how to drive a car, they jokingly told him, not knowing his intention.
After getting directions from his friends, he braced up and drove the car to his house, that was how he learned how to drive. I couldn’t believe the story, but it got me laughing so hard and almost rolling on my sides and helped ease my tension.
When I got in the driver’s seat, I had help setting up the chair in a way that I would be comfortable. I started the ignition and changed the gear from parking to driving while placing my leg on the brake. After changing the brake, I began moving the car gradually with the help of my instructor.
We went some distance with his guidance, I even saw some other people who were also learning, because we chose a deserted road to use for the tutorial.
One of the challenges I encountered while on the wheel was making a turn it was pretty difficult, and also making sure I stayed on track (more like remaining on my lane of the road, not getting too close to the edge and not coming all the way to the middle of the road) but I know with time and practice, I will get the hang of things.
My next practice/tutorial will be on Sunday, and I can't wait. I'm really excited about taking the bull by the horn and not putting this off again after so long. So yeah this is one of my memorable 'first times'.
Are there some memorable first-time encounters you've had? I would like to hear about them in the comment section. Thank you for stopping by❤

I don't even know how to ride a bicycle, but I also believe that everyone should learn to drive. You never know when you will have to do it for pleasure or even in an emergency.
Yeah you never know, you should really learn when you can. Thanks for stopping by.
For the records, I also do not know how to ride a bicycle 😂
