Do you fear the dentist?
I recently had to get a root canal and a filling in relative quick succession. The root canal was due to pulpitis when the root gets infected the tooth normally has to get the pulp removed to save the tooth. The only trouble I had with the tooth before was sensitivity. My X-rays below.
The root canal went well and as it's a molar I will need a crown to protect the tooth from fracturing.
After the root canal I started getting pain on the tooth beside it so I ended up getting old metal (amalgam) fillings from my teenage years removed and cavity removed which grew near the old fillings. The new filling was a composite (white) filling which I was glad and the root canal also was composite.
I went to one dentist for the initial check up and root canal but due to him being away while I got pain I tried a new dentist at the weekend and he did my filling today. He explains things much better with photos, x-rays and even Google searches of what certain conditions are and I need that level of detail to trust a dentist. So far he is excellent.
I have anxiety about getting work done that isn't necessary and ruining my teeth to just make profit for the dentist but my fears are reduced now. And obviously I have fear of some procedures and recovery time etc.
How do you like the dentist? Is it something you dread or can easily deal with?
The dentist is not so scary) - for me, heights and fear of flying are the worst)
I have a fear of heights too but not really for flying
