There are a couple of islands that also celebrate at the same time... but I guess most populated places are in New Zealand.

yep, a few sheep and their shepherds celebrate before NZ 🐑🥳👍🏼 I myself have to wait another 8,5 hours to celebrate here in Berlin … maybe you‘re wkaing up again then ;)

Tried to capture some good shots, but it was raining and very stormy weather, so not many people did the fireworks.

Is it normal for people to do a lot of their fireworks from their own houses?

It varies a lot. Big gatherings in some cities (biggest one probably is in the capital, Copenhagen), some people from their own home, others from a friend's or family's house. I don't have stats, but I think the most common is from a house, be it their own or a friend's 😃
