Weekly HSBI Giveaway for the Splinterlands Community #5

HSBI Titelbild.png

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to the my weekly HSBI giveaway for the Splinterlands community!

After the big Land 1.75 update and the release of the new promo card Kelan Gaines, this week has understandably been a bit quieter in terms of Splinterlands news. This gave me the time to adjust my land strategy a bit and also to read up on the one or other project on Hive without Splinterlands reference. Also nice.

Answers to the last Question:

Last week's question was "What do you think about the Land 1.75 update?". This time, six people took part and answered the question. Let's have a look at some of your answers.

@doombot75:

The 1.75 update is going to have a bigger effect than people think. SPS is going to be limited to the big land owners and a lot of trading to be done, unfortunately I have all my grain in one region so going to be a lot of transportation costs

I interpret this to mean the SPS Mines on land. Since the update, you need more different resources than just grain to operate SPS Mines but also Research, I absolutely agree with you. For this alone you need several different land plots.

@cherokee4life:

That is a loaded question. On 1 hand I love the Land 1.75 update and anything that the Splinterlands team does to push the Land further is a welcome addition. However that being said I wish I researched more before getting into my own land journey. Having 5 plots of land that only produce "wood" sucks lol
But you gotta start somewhere and who knows maybe as I get more and more land it will work itself out.
So far though I love the updates and just hope it doesn't get too complicated or too overwhelming for those of us with minimal land and resources.

I agree that every update regarding land helps. But as you say, it's very complicated and, like you, it can happen that you don't have the optimal land plots for the various resources. For newcomers, land must be a nightmare...

@olaf.gui:

I have 5 land plots but I don't use them for anything. I just keep them to get the bonus to ranked rewards. I also bought them for about $9 each, so they have gained a bit of value. With that in mind, I don't understand anything about land but I'm happy with land 1.75 because it can help the rest of the economy.

There are several comments that do not have any land or do not process this. For various reasons, which I can also understand. But your starting price sounds very good, you can't go far wrong.

@stekene:

I think it will take some time before the rates between the resources settle down. That said, I am glad the spl team keeps on delivering on their land to improve its functionality and gameplay dimensions!

I agree with you. Land is a big deal for Splinterlands, any update will help.

I myself own two land plots that are cultivated by workers. Before 1.75, one plot was used for grain and the other for research. Unfortunately, this is no longer possible, as I would otherwise have to buy the other resources in order to continue operating my research plot. That's why I've now switched to iron. In the medium to long term, I'll have to consider whether it's worth running just two land plots. To be honest, I didn't want to invest any more in land because I want to focus more on the card game itself. But we'll see what the future brings.

And the Winner is...

It's time to draw the winner of the last giveaway.

Kelan Gaines is a very nice card. However, the cost is insane. I saw someone on Discord saying that a player with 500k SPS staked can get 9 copies in 3 months. At first, I thought it wasn't that bad because I was thinking of a legendary. When I saw that it was a rare, that made it absurd.

What do you think of the Kelan Gaines promo card?

So this is tricky cause I am totally impartial lol.

As a lower tier player I would never have enough Vouchers to buy him. So 2 weeks ago or so I decided to buy 100 Vouchers to have. Then Kelan Gaines popped up and I was able to buy 1 card... As you know already, I got a Gold Foil Kelan Gaines!

So the card itself I love and will never part with because of the 3 or 4% odds that I pulled to get a Gold Foil.

I have used him a handful of times and lost almost all of those battles but that is purely because I just wanted to play with my new toy. I think the card itself is great and a good addition, I just need to use him at the right time.

I mean come on.. It's just a pretty card by itself!

But also the 2 Magic and 6 Health being Death AND Dragon is OP for me (as a low tier player that is)

Especially in lower tiers he's quite decent to utilize in my opinion. Although there's quite a cost associated with the card so not that easy to get your hands on the card. Overall, I would say it's a great addition! :D

The possibilities are awesome! This card can be a game changer - but 115 BCX at around 1,90$/BCX is a little steep for a rare. It would've been better as an Epic, with a higher price maybe, but something that doesn't add up to 200$ for a max-copy.

Anyhow, I think that this card at Silver-Level can already provide a huge impact on the gameplay, as it then has 5 speed, Phase and Backfire (apart from Snipe). Right now, it would be either 2500 Vouchers / 70k DEC to get there, or $47,50 on the secondary market (which is, again, cheaper). I do think I will get this card, it is too universally good to miss out on. I just don't know how, yet :-D

Also, it could be a good investment. It might appreciate over time, due to its value to gameplay.

Picked up a lvl 4 but don’t think I’ll be able to get to a max

Definitely a great addition to a Nidhogger or Lorkus lineup, the skill set looks like it will work well in a number of rulesets but will excel in wands out.

I am saving enough credit to acquire Kelan Gaines promo to the right level to compete in Gold League.
