It was a hard decision but I do not regret it

In 2025, the most expensive thing I spent my money on was a landed property, and without hesitation, I can say it was worth it. I couldn't buy anything for myself because I had to channel all my savings into that. All my savings went into that single investment. Yes, it was expensive, and yes, it required sacrifice, but it is one decision I know I will never regret. Land is one asset whose value continues to appreciate with time. The increase in land value is almost unquestionable, and that alone makes it a wise investment choice.

Instead of spending my savings on things that would lose value or bring only temporary satisfaction, I chose to invest in something solid and enduring. It wasn’t just about owning land; it was about securing my future and making my money work for me. If I decide to sell it this year, I will surely get double for my initial purchase, which means land yield increase at any point, it doesn't matter the location. This land was sold at #3 million as of May 2025, but by September of the same year, the selling price had increased to #5 million. I was shocked!

The inspiration behind this decision came from a wealthy man who lives close to my house. He once shared one of the secrets behind his financial growth, which is a landed property. According to him, he buys land, holds it for a few years, sells it at a profit, and reinvests the returns to acquire even more landed properties sometimes doubling his investment and expanding into better locations. I took that advice seriously and decided to key into it.

Was it worth it? Is it something you'll happily spend on over and over again if you have to? Yes, even with the current state of the economy and the rising cost of land, especially as the nation continues to face economic challenges, land remains an asset worth spending on, if you can afford it. Though it looks risky, it's a great investment. It may be expensive now, but the long-term benefits outweigh the initial cost. I should have known about this amazing opportunity since I started working because it was so cheap then, not now, that suddenly everybody wants to become a landlord🤔 but it's never too late, just that the price of things is killing, especially rent. This is not a joke!

This year, 2026, if I have enough savings to do it again before the year ends, I definitely will. Some expenses are not just spending; they are investments, and this is one of them. I'm not snoozing on genuine landed properties. Wait, don't just buy land from anyone, make sure it is genuine, and try to do the needful on the land for proper security. If not in Lagos, there are some people called land grabbers, and they can sell one piece of land to 20 people unaware, just for their personal greed. Be careful!
