Internet scammers need to stop. Weekendengagement #272
My pensioner mother was at home on that day when she received a call pretending to be an official from her bank, you know, as an aged person who was not enlightened about these people called scammers, she fell victim to scammers, and all her bank accounts were tampered with. She was left with nothing, she almost had a heart attack when she called to inform me about how she was receiving debit alerts. I was speechless at first before I could enlighten her on how it happened and how to ignore it next time. What if she had lost her as a result of that?
The advancement of technology cannot be underrated in the world today. However, the damage it has caused is beyond repair. It has made some people lose all their hard-earned, valuable properties and even their lives because they could not bear it. So, if we are talking about what should have been done to these scammers, it should be legal penalties because I see it as a punishable offense. How can you decide to scam a person who has worked his ass out without pity? They destroy people's finances, reputations, lives, careers, marriages, families, and peace of mind. The damage is beyond mischief!
I think after being caught or apprehended, they should repay all they have taken as their first penalty, then proceed to court, and then be sentenced to life imprisonment or death by hanging straight away. I'm not trying to be harsh here, but if you check the world today, most of the male gender is into this internet scamming, and it seems it is just normal to be because no consequences afterwards.
However, if my judgment is too harsh, let there be a regulatory body that restricts or bans any online scamming because scams can ruin life and destiny. I heard a story of a boy of 25years who scammed an old woman of all her properties with a charm. He collected #38m from this woman. She sold all her properties to get the money, but when her eyes were opened, she traced it back to the boy and dealt with him spiritually too. The boy died!
Measures need to be put in place so that scammers can face real consequences. With measures in place, a lot of people who want to engage in that can stop.
Here is my participation in the #weekendexperiences community contest #272.
